• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

How do you keep busy/entertained?

I don't do a lot right now that doesn't concern my family. But I've been thinking about volunteering with a Christian organization (or several). Or even something that isn't Christian but will allow me to work with others and share my beliefs.

The two biggest ones I'm thinking of is a local vegetarian cafe feeds the homeless one weekend a month (I could go and serve food), and habitat for humanity.

Any given time of the day:

online games with friends
reading/ studying
learning languages
writing stories or poems
journaling
photography
painting
working out
martial arts
music (adding the violin back to the list in June)
museums and festivals (especially book festivals)
flea markets and second hand stores
the biggest thing will be reading the Bible in a year because I plan to take some sections at a time from the beginning and study each for better understanding.

Besides work and school, I participate in a sewing circle twice a month. I go to the gym. I teach Sunday School. I am looking into starting a Women's Sunday School class as well.

Right now, being a full time teacher and a part time student is rather demanding. My studies are so taht I can make a career change.

I feel like my life is basically on hold for now until my medical situation is rectified, but once I get a specific diagnosis and start to feel better, I can't wait to do the following:

free time with kids-

  • research various biking trails in our area and go for a bike ride/picnic when the weather is better.
  • start using the basketball court and baseball field that is practically across the street from us!
  • finally use those New Hampshire mountains that are so close by and go on a family hike
free time with me-

  • start a doctor prescribed exercise program. (so far everything I've tried has left me in intense pain for the week after the attempt)
  • volunteer with children somehow on the weekends that the kids are with their dad. I've tried calling hospitals to see if they ever hire volunteers to help in the nursery (I love little babies!!!), but because of security reasons they only let the nurses and nurses' aides do that. I can understand but there must be something similar I can do so I'm going to research that. Maybe I"ll just volunteer to babysit the little dumpling that was just born across the street from us.

I pray a lot and enter into a higher realm with the Lord. There's no greater entertainment than what He shows me :)

I read books that help me better understand things in the Bible. I just started writing my 3rd book. I get lost in the Spirit when I do these things, losing track of time.

What's an electric tuner?

Because I am relatively a cheap person, I am purchasing my first acoustic guitar from...Wal-mart on Friday.

Watch out... You want the strings close to the fret broad. If they are to far away you will find the guitar unplayable. You will be come upset and hate playing!! I would really give it some thought before going to Wally World. Please go out and buy and try a good quality instrument before going the cheapo route.

What is a quality guitar WT (particular brand, etc.)? This is all new to me, so I'm going in blind and with zero knowledge.

All I know is that I want to play.

I just recently moved to a pretty remote area...so it has been challenging to find things to do. At this point, here's what I have gotten into:

-gardening
-playing piano
-Volunteering for VBS
-e-mailing friends I left behind

This year has been really busy with teaching fulltime and taking correspondance courses.

If you can go to a music store and get feed back from a sales guy or gal. I play a Washburn (not say they are that great but it's good enough) Take a look at Appaluse by Ovation perhaps look at Ibanez and Fender. Even look at Washburn. I just don't want you to get stuck with a bad insrtutment

Well besides working 40 hrs a week ( Thank the Lord that I am able to do that!) I enjoy watching a good movie once in awhile, and when the weather is nice, I love to have my morning coffee outside and read the Bible, listening to the birds.. I also really enjoy going to the park, and feeding the birds there! I like to go to the lake as well~ when the weather is rough, I spend my spare time doing small crafts and here lately I have spent a LOT of time here at Christian Forums!
