Thank you! I have never heard of this, and right now, I have to rub in so many different ointments and then wash my hands in between the different ones, that it takes a bit of time.

For example, my doctor has me rub in the voltaren gel first, then apply lidocain to bad areas, then for severe impairment areas, add in an additional methol rub and wrap it up to make it warm.

its step by step, to gradually get my body parts moving.

For example, my feet get rubbed in with voltaren gel and then I pull on socks right over it to keep it on and to start my feet getting warmed up.

Often, then, I roll around my sole with a rubber ball or hand massage the bad spots, then put on warm fuzzy slippers.

Heck, that's just my feet!

A priest fairly recently advised me to jump out of bed in the morning whether I feel like it or not and do Gods work.

He doesn't live in my body, and has no idea how hard it is to get going and keep it going too.

He doesn't know what is going on inside my body, and my clothes cover up bad areas like my feet....so this means that I often look like I'm OK, lol!

If you are doing those things already ... voltaren gel and lidocain ... then you won't want to be doing the Penetrex, too. But I see you were asking for a recommendation for a methol rub, and I missed that part. ("sorry") Penetrex isn't a menthol rub.

The Penetrex works well for my level of pain, but your situation is more severe so I don't know if it would help you any more than the things you are already using. Foot pain isn't fun. My feet are my troublesome area. I use to dance alot. Like, alot. And now my feet are 'reminding' me!! lol

I hope you can find something that will make things better for you.

Do you do the stretching in the bed or do you use the bed to hold on to and do stretches alongside of the bed?

Both. Pretty much stretch all morning long as needed, while doing my morning routine (meds, coffee, feed the cats, etc.)

For instance, when I bend down to get the cat food, I make it into a stretch for my back.

Bracing in a doorway is a good way to stretch my arms, shoulders and sides.

YouTube is a good source for how to stretch specific muscles.

Strategies? Techniques?

I usually wander in the back yard, looking at plants, feeding and watering the birds. It gets my body moving.

Not sure if it's the same as your heel slides, but before I get up I rotate my feet and also stretch them out, sometimes one at a time, sometimes together in opposite directions. Also do some full leg lifts.

That sounds really good. Do you wear a warm shirt and jacket to help with the warming up of the body?

Even in hot weather, I often start out wearing a long sleeved shirt and jacket to help get my joints warmed up, and then I remove the extra layers,

Young people may not understand this layering up and then layering down concept, and may always run out the door wearing shorts and a tee in summer.

Well, their bodies aren't killing them and they can be really inappropriate in remarks about wearing too many clothes, as if it's their business to remark on my clothes!

Not yet! But I understand where you're coming from. My mother is almost 95. She wears long sleeves and a sweater or light jacket when it's 100 degrees out, and keeps her A\C set at 80 or higher to keep her bones from getting cold. And one of the ladies in church wears flannel shirts and a sweater during the summer.

I see young women wearing short shorts and tees in the middle of winter. With a jacket thrown over! I'm not sure who they're trying to impress...

No, it's not their business. Perhaps one day they'll understand!
