  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

How do we react to the Afghan War?

The Bible calls us to be peacemakers, to pursue peace and to leave the vengeance to God.

But how can we just sit back and simply pray about the situation in Afghanistan.
I don't understand how we are supposed to be peaceful, yet allow this kind of evil (Taliban and Terrorism) to occur.

Are we supposed to be removed from the world? Or are we supposed to get involved and punish the wrong doers and liberate the Afghanis who are victims of awful crimes and starving?

Whether or not the war is just, how are we as Christians supposed to react to it?

We certainly cannot ignore it!

Help please its a personal dilemma :(

We did react. The people elected a man who said he would stop the war. But instead he put an end date on it and called it done.

But I think we reacted appropriately. We called out to end it. I think if Bush had done a better job with a resolution in the middle east, John McCain would have won.

We can pray. And that is huge.

Its and interesting question

You put it quite well. If we pursue true peace, we allow the Taliban/ Al Qaeda, etc.. to continue to do evil on to others and ourselves.
If we act we invariably do evil things that are guaranteed in the reality and confusion of warfare....
I so wish I had a good answer for you my friend. But if the lord wanted me to walk a path that involved not having been in the military, I'm sure he would have let me know......
He has a plan and a path for us all
