How Do We Communicate With God?

Hi,

Christianity is focusing on the relationship between Human and God right?
everyone can talk to god, but how do we know god is listeing? I've heard some christians says if u lost then ask god coz he loves us, but how do god talk to us? I am lost right now, I have asked god to show me the truth but i don't seem to see any truth. Thus i become Agnostic right now.

Prayer, like any communication is two way. We are suposed to listen too. Listen while God points out the best things to pray for both yourself and others. Take some time to just be in the presence of God. God is present in the form of the Holy Spirit to enable us to pray and be in His presence.

Try not to just pray by rote. Use the Lords prayer as a model or structure.

Our Father in Heaven
Approach and addressing God. Take time to enter into God's presence or open up. Think of it like tuning in a radio to the right station.

Hallowed be you name
Worship and appreciation

Your will be done
on earth as it is in heaven
Time to talk about what is wrong with you and the world and listen to how God would have it put right

Give us to day our daily bread
Time to stock take and ask for what we need to do the above. daily bread is the necessities so it is as well to let God point out what we don't need that will simply be a burden

Forgive us our sins.
get real, God knows them anyway but want to part as friends.

As we forgive those that sin against us.
A relationship review, where are we falling out with those around us. If we can't forgive we find it harder to receive God's forgiveness for some reason.

Lead us not into temptation/ trials but deliver us from evil.
We need help, naturally. It may also mean help us through life's hard bits not just to be a magic force field that makes difficulties bounce off us.

Like everything else prayer takes time and practice. But since we are talking about the personel Christian God you can ask for help in expereinceing and knowing God. He will make up for our short fall.

Faith, only in time can you, or I or anyone, learn that God is listening to you whenever you're ready.

There are many ways. Sometimes he speaks as himself, a voice in the quiet. Sometimes he'll use others around you to get his message across. As well as other methods, some not so pleasent. I've heard, seen, and been instoryies that a disaster played the main role, but it all worked out for the good.

As the above said, prayer is key. If you have specific questions, I can find a priest in your area who can sit down with you and answer them. But, besides that, just pray. If any odd occurences happen during prayer, ignore them and keep praying.

God can speak to us in many ways. One common way is through his Word (the Bible); for example... you could open the Bible, and a verse will just speak out to you.. and it has perfect relevance to a situation. Usually this wouldn't be a one off.. it'd creep up again and again - that would mean something. Some people can physically hear a voice speaking to them. I haven't ever had that happen to me, but I hope to hear God's voice some day! Some people get dreams that have significance. And as someone else mentioned, he'll use friends.. or other people, ie: the other person would feel they have to tell you something.. but they normally wouldn't... they could have had something, divinely placed on their heart to tell ya. Thing's like that. Generally other people's lives can speak to you, ie: something that happened in it. It's not always a physical HEY DUDE! voice

Prayer is communication with God.

If you are a sincere seeker and you asked God to show you the truth, then God will lead you into both truth and light.

God speaks in many different ways and many different voices, but for one who is seeking truth, then turn to the Bible first of all, and being reading the gospels. The gospel of John is a good place to start. The Bible is God speaking to man, that communication is one-way, the Bible being the directives given by God for man.

As you read the book of John, ask God to show you the truth... and about Chapter 14, you will come across this passage.




1 Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me.

2 In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.

3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also. 4 And whither I go ye know, and the way ye know.
5 Thomas saith unto him, Lord, we know not whither thou goest; and how can we know the way?
6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.



You see, the Bible tells us that all men have sinned, that is, all men except Jesus who WAS God and was perfect..... and because all men have sinned, they are separated from the presence of God and in need of reconciliation back to God. That can only happen by realizing what Jesus says in John 14, that He is the only way and the only truth, and the way to be reconciled to the Father.

The truth is.... you have to accept by faith who Jesus Christ was/is and what Jesus Christ did/will do for you.

That's the step of faith that will transform you from an agnostic into a believer. I invite you to LEAP forward in faith.

You communicate with God through prayer.

And you don't need to have a script in order to talk to God , you can talk to Him like He's a friend....after all that is part of the relationship idea, right?

There are many books out on prayer, and on the ways to pray (someone earlier mentioned following the Lord's prayer...), that is one way but I don't think there is a 'right way' and a 'wrong' way to pray, God will understand.

And I can assure you, God does listen. It isn't an audible voice, but he can respond in other ways...a 'still small voice', a touch to your heart, God can also place events or people in your life....

one of the ways i like to communicate with God is to get away from the towns and enjoy nature. you can observe all of the things that God put into this world and be at peace will it. find a nice place ant take a personal day

I communicate with God, thr the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit leads me in the way that is right. There are times when I wish to do what is wrong, but the Spirit leads me back to the way which is right. Having the Spirit live in side you is the way in which we know what God wants from us.
