How do I grow more in Christ?

1. read Bible, thatz a biggy, even if u dont get all of it, just the tiniiest part can strenghin your walk
2. Pray
3. Fellowship with other believers

So its God who causes the growth, but wait, there is more!

Go to Ephesians, the body book.
Eph 4:16 (remember 4 times 4 = 16)

Out from whom all the Body being joined together and being knit together through every joint of the rich supply and through the operation in the measure of each one part, causes the growth of the Body unto the building up of itself in love.

Bottom line is you need the Body, the operation of each member of the Body, and the rich supply of God Himself.

basically what mythbuster and Drmin said have covered everything. When my faith weakens, i draw strength from reading God's Word and fellowshiping with fellow christians. (as well as praying)

reading God's word keeps reminding us of how we should live our everyday life.
praying keeps us in contact with God.
fellowshiping allows other christians who have gone through the same experience to help the others facing the same situations. It is clear from the bible and from observation that humans are not designed to live alone, so fellowship is important. The christian road is not an easy one, and it is not meant to be run alone.

Yes, both, and envolve yourself with charitable works. When we give to even the least person it is the sameas giving to Jesus in whow we profess to love.
Each day without the scriptures to feed on is a day we grow weak, so discipline your self (where the word disciple comes from) to pick up a few translation of the Bible and study it - renewing your mind daily. Meditate on it and always in prayer, seek God's truth for your life. It is the only thing worth living for. All the bright lights and fancies of the world are temporary and soon gone, but our love and work for Jesus remains in Him, eternal.
Be patient with yourself, and allow yourself to grow in His grace.

Romans 12:2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

1 Corinthians 7:31 Those in frequent contact with the things of the world should make good use of them without becoming attached to them, for this world and all it contains will pass away.

2Ti 2:15 Study to show yourself approved to God, a workman that needs not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

I understand what you mean. Sometimes, we tried and tried and keep failing. Recently, God has opened my eyes to my struggles..

Well, it'll be too long to post my discovery here..

May I suggest, you read these 2 awesome books:
1. The Victorious Christian Life - by an Unknown Christian
2. The Life that Wins - by Watchman Nee

God has spoken to me thru these 2 books and I'm still meditating on the truth.

I'm new to Christianity too, but what keeps me going is surrounding myself with men from my church...to show me how to be a man of Christ. The more I'm around them, the more I learn and the more I apply it to my own life...

Also, when you have free time (this place is a good idea) spend it thinking about God. Like I work in a cubicle and I spend most of my day thinking about how wonderful he is...it helps, cuz I'm generally a pretty self-centered individual...

Reading the word during lunch helps out too...as well, my non-saved co-workers see that, and they ask questions which gives me a chance to carry the message.

Study some apologetics too...that's helped. Faith is just another word for belief, and what these guys do to prove the word is absolutely amazing. It starts interesting conversations with non-believers, think about if someone told you before you were saved that the world was only 6000 years old...for me, i would have listened, it's interesting...

What I'd like to say is that everything before mentioned will certainly encourage spiritual growth. However, don't look at all these things like reading your Bible, praying, going to church, fellowship, serving, ect. as duty. Cuase God doesn't want a robot! God wants your love. So, I'd suggest that you constantly keep your focus on God in everything you do. Don't read your Bible cause you're supposed to. Read it because you know that your having a conversation with God, and that he is speaking to you. I know that I personally at times forget my purpose of reading the Bible. So make sure it's out of love, not duty. Same goes with everything else also. Don't pray cause it's good, but because you want to speak to God because you love him. Talk to him like a best friend (but still be humble enough to realize that he is still our God). Do everything out of love. God is love, and so learning to love is learning to become more like Him. Learning to love allows us to grow.

Stick in there! Because you, me, and everyone else can't even fathom all his goodness and power, love and glory! He has so much to show us and teach us. But always have love.

Treat Jesus as you would any other important relationship. How do you relate to other people you care about? You spend time with them and talk to them about things that are important to you and share concerns, etc. You are commanded to love Jesus as you would yourself...I try to spell love this way: T-I-M-E

I just want to give a little advice.

On reading the bible, you shouldn't just "read" the bible.
Anybody can, "read" the bible.
You should meditate( not putting your hands together like an buddist and singing hymns ) on the word. Also, do not read the bible with head knowlegde this way you will never understand the word of God. But while you read, let the Holy Spirit teach you slow-ly.

joshua 1:8 This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success

I agree with all the posts above me. Reading the Bible is VERY important. So is fellowship with other believers. However, I would like to tack on one thing to the list. Search yourself and find sins in your life that you need to repent of. If you can't think of any, pray that God revels them to you. How are we to become more Christ like if we don't recognize our sins and repent of them. I know that God revels to me many sins in my life that I need to ask forgiveness for and repent from. I am soo glade when God revels my sin to me, because I know that with each sin revel, a chance to repent and become more Christ like. So yes, reading the bible, fellowship, and praying are important steps in growing in faith. Yet, all these things help you realize your sins and repent from them, thus becomeing more Christ like.
