How do I become a FullTime Minister?

Being a "Fulltime Minister" sounds to me like being the same as a Plumber, or a Doctor, or any other sort of job(only much more enjoyable). Is this so? Or is it necessary that we always have a regular job while we freely Preach the Gospel? Whatever the case it is fine with me, but it sure would be cool to actually get PAID doing something I love, even if the pay is very poor. I have only been a Christian since 2004 (my family is unsaved, so at the moment I do not spend much time with other Christians), and since I'm 17 I really need to start planning what my next Moves in life are going to be. I know little about Missionaries, or Full Time Ministers, or any of those things, but I do know that the only thing I could ever be happy in life doing is God's work.

Perhaps someone can educate me about Full time Ministers, or Missionaries, and explain to me what I must do to get involved?

Well how about spending lots of time in the Word and in prayer seeking G-d about if this is your calling?

I've heard it said... that if you can be joyful and fulfilled doing ANYTHING ELSE besides preaching, do it (said by a preacher of mine lol). this is because it is a hard, seirous vocation! It's not like any other job. It takes lots of work, lots of grace, and a lot fo other gifts. But if it's your specific calling, G-d is of course goung to provide for you to do it well!

Ministry isnt like other jobs, as it is the only position where you are in total denial of yourself to God's will to feed his sheep. Your lack of understanding the minsitry and what it details would be the same to say that your not fully in the know of what Christ is in your life and what role he plays in your future. Remember to minister to others is to continue the giving of yourself to others by spreading God's word. One must be full (emphasis on full) of the spirit if one wishes to deliver fully God's word to the lost. You are talking about being held responsible for the lives of others and their souls as to being saved. (Ezekiel 2 and 3rd chapters) When God says speak, you speak, when he says eat, you eat, where he says go you goeth, no questions asked.

I truly believe that you are sincere in your zeal to do the work that God has called for his people, and your calling to minister, as we are all responsible for the spreading of the Gospel (The great Commission). However consider to yourself on whether you have truly accepted and completed your preparation for the task at hand. Feed yourself the word, and Alllow the incorruptible seed to grow within you. Its not something you do as you cannot teach the seed to grow, you must nurtue the fruit the Holy Spirit bring to you. Then can you deliver without recoil what God has to offer to this world.

In that time with God, you will receive his word, his direction and his promise. No one can give that to you, it must come from God, then and only then can you go forward and this question will never be posted on here again, neither in your mind. You will be confident in the word and in his resolve.

Hey Katana, I - like you - am thinking and trying to determine whether or not pastorship or ministership (or "officership" as it is referred to in my denomination) is what I am called to do with my life as well.

You said:

"but I do know that the only thing I could ever be happy in life doing is God's work."

That's my same attitude as well. :) I don't want to become a pastor if it is not the work that God has called me to do. With a lot of prayer, reading the Bible, and so on I am certain that He hears me and will respond in His timing according to His purposes in one way or another.

If you want to know more about how to become a pastor or a minister, then a tip may be to look up your church denomination's Internet website and search through it for pastor, minister, priest, bishop, or what ever your denomination calls the Bible teachers of your churches and the requirements for becoming one if God desires you to serve in that denomination.

May God bless you and it is my prayer that He uses you to reach out to your family and bring them into the Kingdom of God as well. I also pray that the Holy Spirit will guide you in His truth and the determination of what He has called you to do and that you will be open to His promptings. I pray that for me as well!! :D

From,
"Janson."
