So often we obsess about doctrines and dogmas from an intellectual perspective. However, there's another aspect: how the intellectual teachings impact an adherent's day to day life.
How do the differing doctrines and teachings of different Christian denominations impact on how their adherents cope with everyday issues of life?
A Roman Catholic, an Orthodox, a Presbyterian, a Restorationist, a Baptist, a Lutheran, an Anglican or a Methodist?
Is there much of a difference among people of the various denominations in this area?
Of course then one could ask the same question for adherents of totally different religions as well.

They may affect us in every way. I personally refer to the oldest and trust the promise of Christ.

As an example, the doctrines of grace, election, predestination, perseverance, etc. give peace, comfort, and stability in my day to day living. They effect how I perceive God the Father, instead of seeing Him as like a patient Master holding a whip and ready to strike for every failure, I see Him like the Father of the prodigal son, eager to embrace me in His loving arms, eager to forgive and celebrate with dependence on Him.

My Anglican belief that God is present in the sacraments affects how I look for God's presence in physical objects and everyday events. In Sunday worship, I look to encounter God in the consecrated bread and wine of the Eucharist. In everyday life, I look for God in many sacramental places and events that aren't on the official list of seven, as well as in marriage, which is on the official list.

My Quaker-influenced belief in nonviolence -- which addresses the use of many kinds of power, not just physical power -- affects how I interact with the people around me.

Interesting, a perspective on life from a Presbyterian and an Anglican? How do your perspectives view the lack of perfection in the world, and then the ultimate correction (i guess you would mean through the second coming)??

Thank you for asking all these great questions. Yes, I am a Presbyterian. :) The doctrines of the fall, original sin, and total depravity account for the sum of imperfections in the world. Personally, on many levels, I find it much easier to explain and account for the lack of perfection, than the perfect. I think you answered the second part of your second question, or at least from my perspective, the second coming of Christ will be the ultimate correction, end to all the mess before us day in and day out. :)
