  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Yes, Dale, I've read the Bible, thank you.

And no, I was not saying "no conclusions" can be drawn from the natural world.

I am saying the Scriptures are religious texts and not science books.

I am also saying that "Why would God do xyz" arguements don't hold water, imho. I mean, let's say I had a child die a horrible death by some one who kidnapped her. Would I be correct if I became atheist because I did not think those things would happen if there was a God? Of course not.

So, this arguement, though not as dramatic, is supposing we can know the mind the God, and we cannot.

I agree.

I am certainly not claiming that we can know God's plan for an individual. You have my sympathy on your loss. I also had a family member who died in very mysterious circumstances.

Those who say that Christians are obligated to believe in a six day creation and also to reject evolution do claim to know the mind of God. They are rejecting a great deal of the evidence that God left for us to find.

Let me clarify, that was hypathetical. I have not had that particular experience, though I have had some painful enough to shake up my faith a bit.

We agree on that much, Dale.

JohnR7 in post #11:
"Fallen man is not in the image of God, that is why we need to be born again and take on the new nature in Christ."

The statement you make here is contradicted by Scripture.

"A man ought not to cover his head, since he is the image and glory of God; but the woman is the glory of man." --1 Corinthians 11:7
