How many people have been INNOCENTLY incarcerated because of shoddy police work????

Worse, some people are incarcerated because of deliberate malfeasance on the part of the police and the DA's. But, we have a system that allows the innocent to be found and set free. Look at the Innocence Project, over 200 set free so far.

I have no evidence as to how long it takes for serial killers to get caught that isn't relevant right now, is it?

The fact that lawyers can hand pick people or reject people on biases shows me that is not an entirely fair system when determining who should die or live.

True. But, just because there can be some errors doesn't mean that the rest of us have to suffer at the hands of the criminals. God knows who is innocent and who is not.

If one has been executed unjustly- the innocence project doesn't really help now does it?

Another matter--are minorities executed disproportinatly to whites?

But...from what I understand on this thread the Adventist Church has no official teaching on this matteR?

Actually, lawyers cannot hand pick who will serve and who will not. All they can do is object to a limited number of times--once that limit is reached they have no more. I can't read minds so I can't say why they object to some and not to others.

You are free to believe whatever you wish Night. However, until you can answer the question about Jesus, I will have to assume He never once suggested the death penalty for anyone.

Can we suppose that as Jesus hang dying on the cross, when He had asked the Father to forgive those who hung Him there, that Jesus had already forgiven them?

Why did Jesus give Paul a 'second' chance? Mercy perhaps?

A person who is unjustlry executed is in the hands of God? That is a pretty flippant attitude.

How would execution be a deterant to serial killers when it takes so long to catch them?

CAT--I agree--capitol punishment in the hands of the evil is just not just. Far to many innocent ppl are going to prison and the death chamber. And what really makes you sick is that so many times the DA's and police KNOW those ppl are innocent.

Wouldn't want to be them on judgment day!

just to add my 2 cents. I am against the death penalty. there are to many people in jail who are innocent, they are discovering more and more everyday, and i just cant imagine killing someone and then finding out later that they were innocent. Thats something you just cant take back or say your sorry for.

I put my life in God's hand everyday--it isn't being flippant at all. I can't imagine anyone having such an attitude.
