  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

How did you observe Easter?

I fixed a nice lunch (ham, scalloped potatoes, fruit salad) for the family before saying good-by to D21 who headed back to college and S17 who was spending the day at his gf's family farm to play games and have a dinner BBQ. I then visited my parents for awhile and brought them the leftover food from our lunch so they could have it for their dinner. Now it's chocolate overload and FOX shows.

Hail and Greetings

I was just wondering how did people observe this Sunday. How were the services today? Did you get to spend time with family? Any special foods or customs? Thanks

Rhyddid Rose R.
A tradition in our church is to take the rather rustic, shabby looking, cross used on Good Friday, and decorate it with flowers to show the new life and New Creation breaking forth on Easter Morning:

Work 6-2, thanks to nearly everyone in my department requesting off for Easter weekend, if not the entire week before (spring break in a college town.) Since somebody's gotta work on holidays because our store doesn't see fit to close, I got to work. And didn't get to go to Church like I wanted to. :/

Oh yeah, I also learned that my town is full of losers who apparently have nothing better to do on Easter but shop like it's any other day of the week. I mean, I can understand grabbing a couple things you forgot to buy for dinner, but actually getting a cart and getting a couple hundred bucks worth of groceries? Seriously, we thought it was going to be dead yesterday and the place was packed. People were mad because we weren't doing full service that day because we didn't expect to sell all the food we're capable of producing. I was rather stunned.

At least afterward I got to go to my boyfriend's family up in Theresa, WI. It's way out in the sticks so the land is pretty on the way there. I spent the car ride looking around for birds of prey, saw only one though. Then we feasted, and we were all happy. :)

It's not just a religious holiday, you know. Even my non-religious coworkers all left town to see family. However, as I found out while working today, it seems to be a trend in this area to go out to eat with family instead of staying home to cook, which explained why people were out instead of at home all day. They were all going to restaurants, apparently.

I guess I'm just not used to life in the city yet :p

EDIT: Also, if you think you're avoiding the crowds by shopping on a huge national holiday you're going to be sadly mistaken, at least early in the day. Everyone waits until the last minute. The thing to do is wait until night time, which no one did. By night time it was dead.

Started on reworking a planter outsite the dining room. One of those things in the ground that is just a little more than a foot wide and usually filled with rather poor dirt. Dig it all out, sift the dirt and dig decent drainage holes then refil. Just started. Involved going to mom's house to borrow an extra trash can to sift dirt into.

Dogs were really happy since I stayed there for a couple of hours and they got to play on hte huge yard (and they like any adventure.

Had to be sure to leave in time to shop at Trader Joes before 5 oclock closing.

The family thing was Saturday morning at Mom's beacuse that was the only time everyone who was in town could make it.

Spouse, pups and I went into town to visit friends. We stayed over Saturday night, then joined said friends on Easter Sunday for a zombie movie party. We hung out with great company and ate succulent lamb chops (with garlic and rosemary... mmmmm.....) while we watched Black Sheep, a neat little tongue-in-cheek flick from NZ about zombie sheep. Then we went home.

Which reminds me - there's a leftover lamb chop in the fridge with my name on it. :p
