By "apostolic church" do you mean the Pentecostal idea? If so, read the sticky titled "Reminder: This forum is NOT for Pentecostalism." If by "apostolic church" you mean the idea of a single visible Christian institution that adheres apostolic succession and an episcopate (bishops), then you're in the right place.

The development of the episcopacy and presbyterate (bishops and priests) starts with Christ. The apostles were the first bishops, or "elders." They ordained people to succeed them in various cities and places. Hence, apostolic succession. These bishops in turn ordained more bishops, and so on. Eventually, the need for more clergy arose. Bishops can't be everywhere at once. That marks the beginning of the presbyterate (priesthood). The priest "stands in" for the bishop at a local church.

It all started when Jesus said...
'As the Father has sent Me, I send you...'

He breathed on them, ie ordained them, with the HS in a unique way to teach one truth.
That truth is still in the one Church He instituted.

Ordinations can be counted and traced all the way back to Peter and the Apostles.
The line has been unbroken and untainted.

Unfortunately the enemy has sown many weeds into the wheat and much confusion abounds.

Start with the beginning through history and work your way through.

CHURCH FATHERS: Home

The above gives all the writings of the earliest fathers of the Church.
You will find the truth in doing so.

Well, the Catholic Church began when Jesus founded the Church. I believe He founded the Church here in the Bible:

Matthew 16:13-19 RSV-CE (13) Now when Jesus came into the district of Caesare'a Philip'pi, he asked his disciples, "Who do men say that the Son of man is?" (14) And they said, "Some say John the Baptist, others say Eli'jah, and others Jeremiah or one of the prophets." (15) He said to them, "But who do you say that I am?" (16) Simon Peter replied, "You are the Christ, the Son of the living God." (17) And Jesus answered him, "Blessed are you, Simon Bar-Jona! For flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but my Father who is in heaven. (18) And I tell you, you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. (19) I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven."

Pay particular attention to verse 16 onward.

Jesus Gave Peter the keys it the kingdom of heaven n Matt 16 17-19 And Peter stood with the rest of the apostles in Acts 2:38 We must Repent and be baptised in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins and we shall recieve the gift of the Holy Ghost. Jesus is the name of the father, son and Holy Ghost. The name of Jesus must be called in baptism. This is the plan of salvation. This is truth.

For what it's worth, the Apostolic churches believe that Baptism must be done in the name of the Triune God, not in Jesus' name only; that Jesus is the Second Person of the Holy Trinity incarnate, not all three of the persons of the Trinity; and the giving of the keys to Peter signified that he was to open the world to the Gospel (which he did on Pentecost).

Usually called the Holy Trinity.

The trinity was formulated over 200 years after the last book of the bible was written in constantinople by emperor turtullian and 318 bishops. They decided to formulate this doctrine of 3 seperate persons with seperate wills and personalities. This is against biblical teaching. This doctrine was formulated by man and not God. The apostles new nothing of this doctrine. Jesus had attributes of his mother mary flesh and Father God. To become The Son.

father, Son, Holy Ghosr are simply titles of Jesus Christ. He was the father in creation, Son in Redemption and Holy Ghost in the believer today. Gal 4:4 talks about the Son being born of a woman which is mortal not Eternal. We all must be baptised not in his titles but IN THE NAME OF JESUS CHRIST.

Matt understood this he stood next to peter in Acts 1:13

What you need to Understand is Jesus is the name of the father St John 5:43, Jesus is the name of the Holy Ghost St John 14:26 and Jesus is the name of the Son Matt 1:21 Jesus is God Isaiah 9:6

It's also not what the Councils of Nicaea and Constantiniple decreed.

father, Son, Holy Ghosr are simply titles of Jesus Christ.

Not according to the BIble.

He was the father in creation, Son in Redemption and Holy Ghost in the believer today. Gal 4:4 talks about the Son being born of a woman which is mortal not Eternal. We all must be baptised not in his titles but IN THE NAME OF JESUS CHRIST.

There's some denomination that says all this, but I can't just recall which one.

However, it's not one of the Apostolic churches, and this forum is for members of them.

The Sticky for this group:
"Since there seems to be some confusion on this matter, let it be explicitly known that this forum is not for discussion about the Pentecostal "Apostolic Churches." This forum is for denominations/groups that believe in the ancient belief of Apostolic succession. For the purposes of this forum this includes groups such as Catholics, Eastern Orthodox, Oriental Orthodox, Anglicans, and Old Catholics.

If you are looking for discussion on Pentecostalism and related sects, please see the Pentecostal forum or Spirit-Filled/Charistmatic forum. Oneness Pentecostal members are reminded that their rejection of the Trinity is not considered an orthodox belief for this forum, and all discussion and debate on that matter should be taken to Unorthodox Theology. "

I know you meant well Coons but need to move it to the other forum before you get into trouble here :o) I know you didn't see that, I always thought Apostolic meant what the apostles did in Acts too... I learned something today. Christianity has so much interpretation because satan has twisted the Word from the beginning with Eve...and with Jesus tried to tempt him, and today in so many churches, anyway, I guess check out the Unorthodox Theology section....
