How could the authors of Luke, Matthew & Mark so accurately have quoted Jesus?

In order to properly interpret scripture, one must use look at the context of the writer and the hearers and their culture. Matthew was a Jew and his audience was the early church which consisted of mostly Jews. There was no reason to include every kingdom on the earth for this temptation since there was a limited awareness of anything beyond the horizon and Matthew’s audience would not have understood. I believe the kingdoms that were visible from the mountain were the summation of what was considered the physical “world” at that time. The kingdoms were not the focus, the temptation to worship Satan was.

Yes I believe Jesus recounted these things to the apostles and also don’t forget the superintending Holy Spirit’s work.

Now I have something for you to look at:
1 Corinthians 2:11 (ASV)
11 For who among men knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of the man, which is in him? even so the things of God none knoweth, save the Spirit of God.

1 Corinthians 2:14 (ASV)
14 Now the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him; and he cannot know them, because they are spiritually judged.
Luke 24:44-45 (ASV)
44 And he said unto them, These are my words which I spake unto you, while I was yet with you, that all things must needs be fulfilled, which are written in the law of Moses, and the prophets, and the psalms, concerning me.
45 Then opened he their mind, that they might understand the scriptures;
These verses address the work of the Holy Spirit called “illumination”: The ministry of the Holy Spirit whereby He enlightens those who are in a right relationship with Him to comprehend the written Word of God. You need to stop trying to find ways to destroy the character of the Bible and spend more time finding the way to God through Christ.

Would the authors of the Catholic Encyclopedia lie?
Your evidence is hundreds of years old.

I don't give apologetics for anything but the Bible, so the authors of the Catholic Encyclopedia will have to defend themselves with their own apologists. The evidence I gave you predates the Catholic Encyclopedia.

You are just rationalizing away a false statement in the gospel.

I am giving you examples of hermeneutics and exegesis as opposed to picking verses out of context and trying to interpret them with a myopic view. I suggest you pay more attention to the verses I gave you at the end of my last post concerning illumination.

I think this link clears it up quite well.

Errors in attribution in the New Testament?

Do you know JP Holding, the writer of Teckton?

I heard he was the librarian at the prison library at Starky Florida.

Because JP Holding writes something doesn't make it true. It's just the opinion of a prison librarian.

If the only refutation you have to this explanation is to mention the job occupation of its author, things are much worse than I surmised.

These “proofs” are not proofs at all but merely doubts and conjecture. The guards had to give some excuse as to the disappearance of Jesus’ body, after all the body was gone and the explanation of being asleep is more plausible for the governor than what really happened which was Matthew 28:3-4 (KJV) 3 His countenance was like lightning, and his raiment white as snow: 4 And for fear of him the keepers did shake, and became as dead men. If the penalty for failure to secure the tomb was death, as you postulate, then no matter what story they give, the guards were in danger. The Sanhedrin then offered their help if the guards would share the lie. What choice did the guards have? They could tell the truth which would not have been accepted by the governor at all or at least employ the weight of the Sanhedrin and provide an excuse that was believable.
Your defense of the Sanhedrin for not telling this lie because they followed the law is misplaced. After all they had already lied when they went through the set up, false witnesses they enlisted, and encouragement of the crowd to execute and innocent man. They had already broken the 9th commandment: Exodus 20:16 (KJV) 16 Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour.
