how come?

how come so many americans just love the trash? it seemed like all games made in the usa are fulled with it. blood, violence, and bad words in every game made there. now i know in japan we have bad stuff like, but why do americans love it? i just thought it was strange why everyone seemed to love it so much over there

It seems to me that Japanese games are equally as "trashy" as american games. Japanees games have plenty of blood and violence, and I've seem some Japanese Anime Films that put every American movie I have ever seen to shame in the Blood/Violence department. Why would you guys make it if you didn't like it too?

anyway I like Jappanesse games more that USA games.

why? because violence is a part of our culture. people in the US take violence less seriously than other places. But we go berserk when i happens to us, we never expect to be robbed, or mugged, or shot at, in many places, thats commonplace. Also, when 9/11 happend, why was it a big deal.....because we though we were invincible, in other places, they get what? a few terrorist attacks a month? we get ONE here and start wars (not that im against the war, but look what it triggered) american's don't realize how mortal they really are, until something happens, like your best friend getting killed or someone else very close.

so my point is, its part of americans to enjoy violence, because we are so ignorant of the fact that it never happens to us.

US culture has become accustomed to bloodshed. However, just because we're accustomed to it doesn't mean our games are trash. Look at anime. There are incredibly horrible shows that have much violence and nudity.

As for gaming.....You guys DID make biohazard so, you can't be all be violence haters, can you?

Cuss words, is just another form of extreme expression.

Violence is fun.
Our favorite sport? Football. Ever see someone get their leg snapped in two? That will shake you up a bit, and we love it.

Blood would touch on the realism part. Your culture seems to be big on anime characters with big fat american type eyes. All cutsie and stuff.
We like the harder edge of life, with realism. The more real it is, the more we like it.

Example:

I told my boss I was getting an assualt rifle.
He asked why?
I replied, Job Security.

Thats attitude.

i dont think he is talking about the games as he is talking about the attitudes and behavioral reactions to the violent entertainment. he just notices a difference in the way we see violence. i would say that americans tend to see it in games and think oh that looks like a great "game." whereas in his situation they understand violence not only from a different perspective but also a wider scope than americans do and thus the reason their games/video entertainment can be so much more graphic.

this is just my theory on what he is talking about.

It's because many people in the US are insecure. They think everything has to be as adult as possible or it can't be cool. That's why the Gamecube wasn't doing very well.

Well, I wouldn't say hes a hypocrite, but until he has asked why japanese people like trash so much, he shouldnt be as concerned about us. I mean, for real man, we don't have naked people on our saturday morning cartoons, and your average american cartoon is usually just comic, not hardened warriors going around killing tons of people, or one of the things a really dislike about a lot of anime, is people with no experience whatsoever going around killing tons of people who have combat experience. I'll be real with you, americans like that kind of stuff too, but for real, japan is steeped in violence and sex and stuff, and thats just in their cartoons and games! I mean dang, atleast we generally don't let our kids around that kinda stuff, or have nudity on stuff like cartoon network or fox. But, I guess its only fair to answer your question. I agree that people are getting insecure and think if it isnt violent it isnt cool. Also, I think a lot of it is admiration for the people in these violent films and games, who come across as invincible heroes, and although I'll admit, I enjoy seeing guys like Aragorn or Luke Skywalker win battle after battle. However, I think once it gets to the point of people in a lot of anime shows, where they have NO weakness, it just gets boring. Also, another reason americans love violent stuff is because we can't do it in real life. I mean, that is one of the main reasons I hear for playing grand theft auto, is because you can get away with stuff u can't in real life, and that fantasy aspect plays a huge role in it. I mean, Jedi Knight 2 wouldn't be nearly as much fun if I could heal myself or throw people around or make lightning fly from my fingertips as I execute a perfect backflip. But ya, while I admit the US is bad off, japan is worse man. I mean for real, with that professional army they're starting, they're gonna be getting lots of people hwo wonder why they cant have a giant robot instead of an assault rifle, or why there aren't any "hot babes" in revealing armor ripping there enemies apart instead of soldiers having to risk there lives.

You obviously haven't seen very much anime, have you?

Americans like realism in their entertainment?!?!?! Are we living in the same country? Pardon my surprise, but Americans, at least a majority of the ones I've met, can't stand realism.

Whenever you want to make a point using manipulation. Just toss the old "insecure" into someones face.

Nintendo shot themselves in the foot, with the system N64.
This gave PS the edge over them. Then PS2 comes out a whole year before gamecube, which didn't help them much.
Basicly two companys geared towards the same crowd, kids, and PS2 took the momentum.

Now I think PS2 is doing something similar as N64, when it comes to xbox. Not nearly as bad, but bad enough. And Xbox has its next system coming out long before PS3, which will give it a major advantage.

Hey, like I said, I don't think he is one. By the way, hypocrites are people who do one thing and say another, and he hasn't done that yet. Now, he has pointed out something in our country that is far worse in his, but that doesn't count as true hypocracy in my opinion anyway. And hey, atleast I took the time to answer his question. By the way, has he posted anything in response yet?
