How cold is it where you are?

Brisbane Airport reached -0.1ºC at 6:53am on Thursday morning, however this morning was slightly warmer - the minimum being only 1.5ºC @ 6:23am.

For those of you who don't know, that's incredibly cold for Brisbane. Usually we think we're freezing when the temperature gets into single digits.

man its been cold this week!!
it will be cold tomorrow morning too when i have to get up for an 80 km push bike ride at 6 in the morning!

im looking out the window at the moment - and it looks nice and warm.... but i could be wrong lol.. had a good weekend of warm weather though.. pity the beach wasn't so warm

71 degrees Fahrenheit = 21.6666667 degrees Celsius

Use Google calculator, it's really easy. Just type into the search bar something like:

71 degrees fahrenheit in celsius

then press enter and it'll give you the result.

So really 71ºF isn't cold at all!

Oi, you guys don't know from winter! LOL here in Canada, in my city the average winter temp. is about -20. Celcius.

But yeh, even -1 to 5 C is chilly. Sweater weather for sure.

Adelaide, really cold!! I always have a blanket with me, especially on nights when at my computer and the heater is in another room (one you can't move) and doesn't really reach my room, so this poler fleece blanket keeps me warm.

Well that's it. Today was like a Spring day in our Hunter Valley. It's time to do the Garden now, prepare soil, Tomato seed's are put in in the Laundry pot, and it's all go now.

So when do your tomatoes go out?

I have never done tomatoes from seeds. I like to get the seedlings and normally put them out in October.

They are so much nicer than the store bought tomatoes.

End of August, because I got a clear roof above. I have a 3.5x3.5 timberframe with flyscreen gauze on 4 sides and clear roof on top, so no frost, and no fruitfly!! BTW I still got a few little grape tomatoes from last year beginning just to get red. And of course I got the Capsicum (big bell) still in, because the go for 2 years at least. Still harvest Capsicum, nice and red.
Do not always believe what the Packet tells you about annuals or perenial. Lots of Vegies grow longer if protected.

All I know is every year by about February, March, my tomatoes have had it.

What is your secret to growing nice tomatoes.

The first year I did it they were beautiful, last year they weren't so great. I don't know what I did (if anything) differently.

The soil can make a difference too, and the weather. Don't ask me too many questions, I'm no gardener, hehe.

I am blessed to live in the country, I got trailerloads after trailerloads of cowmanure every year, no chem. fertiliser no sprays, that's why I enclosed the tomatos and capsicum in a flyscreen enclosure. And I also just make a big hill with cowmanure and put my zuccini and cucumber seeds in there, grows well.
This year I start something new: blueberry and black mulberry as a espallier, hope it works. It's so hard with the blueberry they are so fucy with the soil. But I will try.
