We dont have the 'fullness' of truth yet CR.
We know 'in part' right now.
Obviously, I'd say, the best thing to do is to let pass, unanswered, quote]
You posted something false about me. I called you on it.
What else can you do, other than apologize?
I always get your point squintYeah, but it's kinda like a flow chart where all the channels end in potential hell for anyone in a single point of disagreement.
I'm sure you can picture that. All the arrows go straight down...
He promised that the gates of hell... would not prevail.... against
the church.
What does 'the gates of hell' mean?
What does not prevail mean?
Actually, I was referring to Jesus promising the disciples that the Holy Spirit would lead them into all truth and that he would be with them until the end of the world.
.
It's all you got CR, it's all I got too.
Our unity in morals comes from our having the heart of flesh, we're
new creations in CHRIST, we have the mind of Christ and hold the
thoughts and purposes of Christ in our hearts.
That sounds good in theory, but you and I both know that there is much confusion with regard to moral theology on various fronts.(ie. artificial birth control, gay marriage, abortion, etc.)
Me too ! He wants us not to be unified, He wants us to be ONE.
WAY deeper than unity.
That mysterious oneness as a husband and a wife. Now a husband
and wife are one, but they might have some different P'sOV.
They're still one.
It's much more specific than that:
We should have "one mind, one spirit"(Philippians 1:27) and have "no dissensions, same mind and judgment"(1 Corinthians 1:10)
We dont have the 'fullness' of truth yet CR.
We know 'in part' right now.
I believe that Jesus is still leading his disciples into all truth. What if the fullness of truth is available now? Isn't that what we should all want?
I have a relative who's like a mom to me. We visit almost
every day, we just dont discuss religion. Another friend
of mine who's cathoic is very near to my heart. Some
of the things she says make no sense to me, I keep
my mouth shut, bet she does the same. we love each
other and never have confrontations. We are in fact
united in our Christian love.
The RCC requires you to call your fellow believers who do not agree with their determinations heretics subject to potential burning alive forever.
Call it whatever you want. Maybe you just don't know their rules?
I know I've posted this before, but perhaps you missed it:
Wounds to unity
817 In fact, "in this one and only Church of God from its very beginnings there arose certain rifts, which the Apostle strongly censures as damnable. But in subsequent centuries much more serious dissensions appeared and large communities became separated from full communion with the Catholic Church - for which, often enough, men of both sides were to blame."[269] The ruptures that wound the unity of Christ's Body - here we must distinguish heresy, apostasy, and schism[270] - do not occur without human sin:
Where there are sins, there are also divisions, schisms, heresies, and disputes. Where there is virtue, however, there also are harmony and unity, from which arise the one heart and one soul of all believers.[271]
818 "However, one cannot charge with the sin of the separation those who at present are born into these communities [that resulted from such separation] and in them are brought up in the faith of Christ, and the Catholic Church accepts them with respect and affection as brothers .... All who have been justified by faith in Baptism are incorporated into Christ; they therefore have a right to be called Christians, and with good reason are accepted as brothers in the Lord by the children of the Catholic Church."[272] 819 "Furthermore, many elements of sanctification and of truth"[273] are found outside the visible confines of the Catholic Church: "the written Word of God; the life of grace; faith, hope, and charity, with the other interior gifts of the Holy Spirit, as well as visible elements."[274] Christ's Spirit uses these Churches and ecclesial communities as means of salvation, whose power derives from the fullness of grace and truth that Christ has entrusted to the Catholic Church. All these blessings come from Christ and lead to him,[275] and are in themselves calls to "Catholic unity."[276]
I've seen others do it over and over, ad nauseum. You just declare it wrong, and repost the same things. That, my friend, is the definition of futility.I don't buy your description, but I do believe that the Catholic Church is the only path to true Christian unity.
It has nothing to do with self gratification. I am making points and supporting them.
Feel free to refute my points, or at least make an attempt!
We have heard that some went out from us without our authorization and disturbed you, troubling your minds by what they said.
(Does this remind you of anything?)
I was referring to the Reformation.
what is and is not in the catagory of "invincible ignorance" is up for debate, if people were raised hearing lies about the Catholic Church, even if those lies came from other Catholics, then that person might be "ignorant" of the Catholic ChurchI am very aware that the only extended hand of IMPERFECT communion with the RCC is to those who are IGNORANT of the RCC rules and IGNORANT of the RCC penalty for openly stated disagreement.
Of course this would NOT apply for nearly anyone here @ this site. And many of you don't know your own rules very well, particularly you who try and pull this card out here when it clearly does not apply to us.
It may make you feel better, but it shouldn't if you actually thought about it for like a nanosecond.

Of course, the Reformation sought to bring people back to the Bible, and away from unbiblical teachings and extrabiblical teachings which the established Church had brought in. So in this case, it would be the Reformers who had to leave the established Church because that Church refused to give up its errors. Something like Jesus starting the Christian church because His chosen people refused to give up their errors.
Dave
If people left the Catholic church because that church had adopted practices and teaches which were not in harmony with Scripture, and was unwilling to give them up, then the Bible would not only commend the faithful to leave the established Church. The Bible would COMMAND them to leave that church.
Dave
That hypothetical is not relevant.
The Catholic Church is the Church of the bible.
The bible led me to accept Catholicism.
The Bible is the test of a church's teachings. A church is not the test of its own teachings. Such would exalt man above God.
