Someone mentioned to me that I should share my story of coming to Christ in this forum, so I will! I love to tell it! I came to this forum a few weeks ago. Up until that time I had been an atheist essentially my whole life. I was never baptized nor was I raised very religiously. My Mom is Catholic and my father an atheist, and being a Daddy's girl, I took after him.
Also taking after my father I've always been very skeptical. If it couldn't be proven scientifically I didn't believe it. I had no "faith" as people talk about it here.
Anyway one day recently my Mom and I were discussing Biblical prophecy and that sounded really interesting to me. Even though I've always been an atheist I've also been interested in religion for a long time, so I was always reading up on different religions belief systems. So I got some books on the subject and also joined this site at the same time, to ask for advice. Everyone was very nice to the sinful atheist in their midst :D. I began reading and studying about how science and God worked together. I was amazed to find out that these two things were not mutually exclusive, as I always assumed them to be. Then in the space of a couple days, several things happened that totally changed me.
1) I saw that scientifically their had to be some sort of God running the show. This is mainly b/c of some articles I read, talking about how the Universe couldn't have started from nothing, that sort of thing.
2) I found out some Biblical Prophecies that amazed me. One was the prophecy of Isreal getting it's own nation. The fact that the Bible knew this even though it was written so many years before the event took place just floored me. There were a couple other prophecies that affected the same way.
3) I read this is one of my books. "Then shall ye go and pray unto me, and I will hearken unto you. Then ye shall seek me and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart." (Jeremiah 29: 12-13)
All these things coming to me at once and I knew what the truth was. I realized that God was showing me undeniable proof that not only did He exist, but that the Bible was his word. This is when I was saved. I'm now in the process of finding a Church and learning more. I feel so amazingly blessed to have discovered this. There's a whole new dimension to my life that I never knew existed!
THANK ALL YOU GUYS ON HERE WHO HELPED ME SO MUCH! YOU GUYS HELPED ME FIND GOD!

What a sweet and wonderful testamony. It brought me to tears...especially your last line. Just know that God brought you to Him. He loves you so much that He showed Himself to you in such a special way. God bless you blessedvegan.

PS...are you a dietary vegan? (guessing from your username). I'm a longtime vegetarian.

Oh yes crossrunner I know God brought me to Him, b/c only He knew how best to snag me, by my love of science:p! He knew what would tempt me into searching Him out! But I wanted to make sure to thank everyone here too because they were all so nice and helpful! That's one thing I find so cool, that God would go to the trouble to use a unique way to reach me, something that appealed to my nature. Yes I am a vegan (4 years now!). I even have a tattoo dedicated to it on my wrist. That's cool that you're a vegetarian! It's such a good decision, for health reasons, not even counting the ethical reasons (which are why I went vegan).
Ukok..yes it just makes me more amazed to think that God could create something so complex! But I guess He is God, after all..if anyone could do it He could. I'm hoping to (gently) try to bring my Dad to Christ. My Mom's never convinced him but she doesn't know much about the scientific aspect, she's always been religious on faith. But I'm thinking maybe my Dad will be more affected when he sees the scientific side of it. I'm hoping! But with my Mom and I both praying for him, he doesn't stand a chance of remaining an atheist ;).

:amen:! I've spoken to plenty of atheists before everyone bashed me almost to tears. But you have given me hope that I can reach out to them and convince them the reality of God and Christ. Your testimony is ranked up right up there with Nicky Cruiz's. But remember when you said they were very nice to the "sinful" athiest in their midst, you weren't alone. Everyone here on this site now or ever has been on, has sinned in their life. It is the nature of Man to sin after the incident of Adam and Eve and the Garden of Eden and the apple, man I wish that didn't happen...:( No one but God cares that you sin, but you should pray that God helps you to reduce the sins in your life. I'll be praying for your Dad, good luck and as they say in the christian Star Wars "May the Spirit be with you!"

Equal Minded, it sucks that people would treat you badly. WHen I was an atheist I tried to be nice but I know I would get impatient with people who tried to preach to me..after all..when you know there's no God, you don't want to hear about it. In my mind I had heard it all and no one could tell me anything different. Just remain strong. Yes we're all sinners..I'm trying to do better! Thanks for the advice:)

How very exciting! I'm so glad that CF members were able to encourage you...and now you can do the same for others! It's strange because you don't really hear a lot of people talk about the scientific aspect of Christianity, or that leading them to Christ, but God does seem to draw us in with the things that interest (or ever sometimes hinder) us. Welcome to the fam, BlessedVegan...let's do tea in Heaven!!! ;)
