• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I don't think they're very accurate. For one thing, you can answer any way you choose.

If you have a personality disorder, you're not going to believe you have the problem you're being asked about, so you're not going to answer correctly.

I've been told by some of my friends that I should be evaluated for a few of these things. When I take the online tests, they all say I'm fine, so I think I'm okay.

Has anyone here done any of those online questionnaires to diagnose PDs? I have done some and have told I have "moderate" borderline tendencies. I know they are no substitute for accurate psychiatric diagnosis but I was wondering how accurate they really are.
I have taken some of those test too and gotten those results. I really do think that I have BPD cause when I did research on this PD I find that my behavior matches a lot of what is described about BPD.
Praying that you find the answers my dear sweet sister. ((((((((((BIG HUGS)))))))))))) Lots of love to you.

I believe an online questionnaire is just a tool to help find the problem. I do not think this tool should be used unless follow up is planned though. Either online on the telephone or even in person. Telling someone they are this or that could be the thing that pushes them over the edge. Being impersonal and just blurting out a diagnoses will benefit no one. Those with mental torment are fragile a lot of times. They need love and support. That love and support should go beyond a questionnaire.

BPD is in the DSM-IV the Diagnostic Statistical Manual for Clinicians being psychiatrists and doctors, only a qualified professional can diagnose............ again get the psych eval....... get a full psychological evaluation, which includes an MMPI or similar, lots of interviews

is there a website someone would suggest to take an online questionairre so that I could print it and take to my theripist to show her?

Why do you need to take a questionnaire to therapy? Your therapist should be able to take the diagnostic criterion from the DSM-IV and evaluate your symptoms and make the diagnosis. You don't need the questionnaire to do that, just get her to go over the DSM-IV symptoms with you, and discuss them. She is probably well trained in the DSM-IV, and able to help you that way.

thanks for the info I will ask the therapist. Im very new to bpd and the new person that was given to me doesnt have alot of training in this kind of stuff. They have someone else who specializes in bpd but she is totally full so I want to make sure I go in with as much info as I can so that I can get the best help.
