I will be assumed into the RCC on may 12. Still 2 weeks to go. Got the green light from my priest.

I have a question concerning mission. I am an avid street missioner,

I raised the topic of mission in our RCIA class. The 2 women leading the class were almost rejecting the need for mission. One stated that heathens will be saved if they do good works, and the other stated that the apostle Paul really only did a lot of mission because he thought that Jesus would come back very soon.

I would like to hear your opinion on this topic. Is mission necessary?

Necessary, right, good, and loving. Any old Catholic should be able to affirm that. It takes a newfangled Catholic not to get it that our faith is missionary. Always was. Always will be.

First thing you need to learn as a new catholic is not to place all your trust in clergymen and other "older siblings in Christ".
The church is constituted by its shared faith not by its uniformity so you should preach as much as you like without letting anyone tell you differently.
Just preach Catholicism and you'll be fine.

I can tell you, and this will probably be an encouragement -
I have had 2 interactions with young people on the street, who were "I was born catholic", and when I respond by saying that I am converting to catholicism, I have more than one open ear.

I'm pleased that the Vatican realizes the need for evangelism, but I'm very sceptical towards this false dichotomy of either evangelism or doctrinal catechism.
It should be two pages in the same book.

Bottom line is that we need to preach for the salvation of the many. If we won't, the stones will cry out !
