House Cleansing - Seeking Information

I'm a Washington, DC-based freelance writer who's working on an article about "house cleansing"-- a procedure in which a team of Christians walk through a house attempting to locate, identify, and drive out evil spirits. Several Anglican churches in the Washington, DC suburbs currently offer this service.

Yes I have heard of this, but in a different way. I have heard of where some people who were in a cult, who owned a house and it was sold to a Christian, they would have their pastor and church elders do this.

I know of a church who just in the last four weeks did this very thing. The person who cleaned the church has burned incense and carried crystals while she cleaned the church. the person who cleaned the church said she went in the baptistery and did some sort of spell. They went room by room and prayer over each room. They especially went in the baptistery and prayed that the Lord would remove anything that would hamper the Lord here.

I have heard of people who brought back items from other countries items that were used in cult services. After some very seriously odd events these items were taken away and the events stopped.

I find nothing wrong in doing any of the above. Even in Washington DC there can be no harm done by asking God to protect those who will use these rooms, and protect them from Satan's demons. Satan is alive and well today and so are those demons who do his works. Eevn Jesus Christ cast out demons. Are we so intelligent and full of disbelief that we no longer believe in the Prince of the air? Remember Satan goes about like a lion seeking to destroy.

I can say that when Me or my wife have felt an evil presence we have prayed "For the Blood of the Lamb to protect and remove anything that was there." That is Biblical. I am not ashamed that many Christians see that there is evil in the world and Satan has more power, we as Followers of Jesus Christ are to be wise and alert to Satan's evil.

Thank you very much for replying. Do you recall what state/city the house (the cultists' house sold to Christians) and the (cleansed) church are in? Do you recall the name of the church? Do you remember where you learned about the "items from other countries", where (state/city) this took place, and what sort of items were involved?

Hi,

I know of a church that I used to attend. They bought a building, it was a large building a school. One of the rooms had been used to perform satanic rituals. Rather than perform an exorcism as such they put a tape player in there that was playing christian music. I would guess demons hate to hear about Jesus 24/7 (through the worship music), so it is not a bad way to do a cleaning in my opinion.

Basically the church bought a school, it was a miracle for them, they got it super cheap. It had been vacant for months years prior to the purchase, enough time for vandals to invade it so to speak. The church began work on creating a center of education and training for the disadvantaged, and a place of worship.

When cleaning out the rooms one of the rooms has satanic circles, places where witches had performed rituals. I am not sure of exactly what was in there but enough to show what had occurred there.

So they put a radio/CD player in there with worship music playing 24/7. I went into the room and it seemed quite normal. Nothing creepy left.

Vandals quite deliberately try for shock value. Satanism remains unproven. I prefer to avoid speculation.

A house can't be possessed. Humans are possessed, not houses. You cast devils out of humans, not houses.

Can the devil come into your house and do stupid stuff? Sure. You rebuke his butt and stop him from doing it. There is nothing intrinsically wrong with the house when this happens by the devil. The devil might levitate objects in a house even. There is nothing wrong with the property, the house, or the objects.

There is something wrong with YOU for not taking authority over the devil and kicking his butt to the curb.

You defeat devils by changing the mind of the people who are involved in a situation.

If you do a "house cleaning" for a person, sure, you could kick every devil outside the house. Then the next time they have a drunken party in there with lewdness, they opened the door and the devil is right back in the house, except this time, he has 7 friends with him.

At the core of why there are devils, why there is corruption, and why there are spiritual issues, it comes back to, not everyone is a mature Christian. Mature Christianity solves -every- problem the world faces.

Environmental disaster? Declare God's word over it, and supernaturally heal it.

Sickness? We were delivered from sickness by God's power. People get sick because they don't know by God's spirit they were delivered.

Um, wrong...I know from experience. A house might not be 'possessed' but it can a have a principality over it or in it, just as there are principalities and powers of darkness over nations, cities, etc.
Objects can invite or attract demonic spirits...this is why they burned all the occult books in Acts. Idols were forbidden. Some objects have had curses put on them. Occultists love to put spells into objects so that when someone handles or possess the object that person gets affected.
I know, have lived in many a place like this and both myself and others have witnessed extreme poltergeist activity and other strange stuff only experienced in that particular place.
I agree if someone gets their house cleansed and then has some wild party with sin of course that will open the door for devils....
But please do not discount that principalities can take up residence in a place laying wait for hapless people who enter. I have even seen a couple churches fall to this type of thing and know of a former church converted to a house where someone did satanic rituals and that place was filled with all kind of strange activity for the months i was there, witnessed by at least 4 people...
I believe in both personal deliverance by the Holy Spirit indwelling, and rebuking the demons out of a place or area, binding them, and then blessing the place or area. The people dwelling there should also walk in the Spirit as well.
