• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I'm going to be making a lot of threads for awhile, because I have a lot of trauma.

Anyway, from experience, I feel the more most people understand the Bible, the less they understand feelings, psychology, sociology and taking care of people.

Something happened to me recently which made me realize taking care of people and hospitality is, dare I say it, more important than God. I don't think God is so jealous that He thinks we should put our greatest concept of Him above a hurting person.

If that makes me go to hell, oh well.

The second person of the trinity gave up his position in heaven to become a baby, grow to be a man, to be brutaly tortured to death in order that those who will recieve him may have eturnal life.
How is being kind and polite to others more important than accepting what Jesus did for us?

Let's just say I may or may not have met a Charismatic person who took their discernment of God speaking to them and "their" understanding of the Bible to the extent that they may have even applied it to their view on psychology, etc. This led to them hurting me.

I am sorry if I have made your hurt worse.

All I can suggest is if this happen within a church fellowship, ie you both belong to the same church, to take it to the eldership, as all gifts and there use/abuse are subject to verifcation by the church.

I firmly believe taking care of people, being kind and helping them, IS what God wants us to do. I cannot look these two as different things, as if God is on the other side, and being gentle in one's actions on the other. That's probably why I value faith more than religion, and heart/actions more than our own words.

If I try to bash my views about God into someone's head, hurting them in the process, is that what God wants me to do? I don't believe it is. Getting a convert is nothing, if it's not based on free will, truth and genuinely caring. It won't last, and it can scar people. But helping someone who's struggling with their faith or life, not forcing them, not trying to get the other one to be a copy of yourself, that's another thing.

Love is the answer. If we don't have love, we don't have anything. And I believe God is love, and wants us to love.
