• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Hello, new member here. Currently I am in a rest home at the age of 42 and can not stand being here. I feel trapped and insecure about getting out. Was wondering on what I do from here because I think I lost hope in God. Mainly because I do not hear Him, see Him or feel his presence.

If you can get a Bible and read it. Then you will learn who God is. Jesus our savior is the focus of the New Testament and he is a shadow of what’s to come in the Old Testament. God is love. He sent His Son to die and pay for our sins. No sin is removed without the shedding of blood according to the God of the Bible- the only real God. So Jesus died as the perfect sacrifice for all sin, past, present and future. If you put your trust in this after you confess your sins to the Lord, that they are forgiven, you have passed from death to life, you are no longer Gods enemy, you can go to heaven, you have become a child of God. Then read your bible and He will make your faith stronger.

These are the places of life where we can relate to David's prayer in Psalms 25:4 - "Show me your ways, Lord, teach me your paths."

I pray that God may reveal his plans & purpose for your life. Keep up your faith and do not give up.

God knows what we need. There are sometimes in life when He speaks and there are other times when He is silent. BOTH are needed for our spiritual growth and health. Embrace both and have faith in the truth that He never leaves you nor forsakes you.

I hope you do get to leave cause then you will probably be healthier. It’s good to pray and God will hear, but your not goin’ till it’s time. There is a better place waiting for all of us. There is comfort in the Word of God and I feel glad for heaven. When my folks passed it was so much easier because I knew where they went. It’s in your hands you have control. The apostles believed that the father sent Jesus to the earth and until they got the Holy Spirit that’s what they knew. Jesus went on with his plan anyway. ‘All things worked together for good ‘ and the gospel was preached. I sure hope you can get a Bible.

If you like having the Bible read to you, there is the blue letter Bible website. It allows you to listen to different translations, dramatised or read.

Also, there is a DVD series out called The Chosen which many people recommend. It also livestreams latest episodes. It's free and some people donate. It's viewable on YouTube or an app.

Other ideas for hobbies - modelling, artwork, journalling, etc. There are many helpful Bible study guides . If interested I could let you know of a couple of publishers.

Lastly, it's possible to get medatitive colouring books on the psalms and other Bible topics for adults.

Hope you feel better soon.

I’ve read the bible on/off for 20 years. I’m just uncertain about having the Holy Spirit. I’ve repented and asked God into my life and was baptized in Jesus name. I hope to go to heaven some day because earth is a lonely somewhat ugly place that I feel I do not belong.

You can be sure. There is a ministry called Way of the Spirit. They do zoom courses (a free online video conferencing website) and publish study guides and reading plans. They encourage each person to hear and listen to God for themselves.

It's possible to find them with a search engine.

They don't dictate how you hear, rather through completing the courses there are opportunities to discern.

Look up, friend! The first thing for all seekers after God is to read about Him in the New Testament (noting right-away) John 3; John 14; Romans 8; etc.). After reading the four GOSPEL books for Redemption truth (salvation of our soul for Heaven), one should then understand the Book of ACTS as a transition book from the Gospels of salvation to the EPISTLES (letters about the Church ), which give us Church truth and the Christian's walk and order collectively in this world, and obeying and honoring God.

Then one can begin reading in the OLD TESTAMENT to learn about creation and history with God's covenant (promise) to Israel as His people for earthly inheritance for a time ---foretelling what would come. When Israel later got so puffed up with their conquests and ignoring their Prophets, they forgot God and killed their Messiah (the Lord Jesus, when He came to them). God then raised up Jesus who paid the price of redemption in His death, and set forth the Gospels and Church truth for ALL mankind who will receive His "...beloved Son". The Old Testament is mostly history and prediction of what God has for ALL mankind, and is a FORETELLING of all truth to come for all people.

The book of Revelation gives us a summary and also shows the Church ('bride of Christ') as translated (often called 'rapture' --pure joy) up to Heaven. Both Jews and Gentiles MUST have the Lord Jesus in their heart as Savior and best Friend NOW, to have any part in God (note John 14:6). One day the Church --"bride of Christ" will be suddenly ("in a moment; in the twinkling of an eye") called up to Heaven, and terrible judgment will fall on this world ---the "tribulation" time.

In the future ---perhaps sooner than we know, the Church will be called up, and great trouble will fall on mankind left behind. Later the Lord Jesus will return with His 'bride' and reign for a thousand years, which was denied Him before by man and Satan. More can be shown on this picture, if you wish to study and learn of it. I will be happy to help some in this, friend!
