When I post that I am having a hard time, I am saying that I am either confused or falling under the fiery darts of the wicked one. I need encouragement and Bible verses.

People instead tell me that I need to seek mental medical help.

The fact is, I have had an awful time with medicine and psychiatrists, and I'd rather not get into it. Do you really think that had they had all the answers, that I would have needed a deliverance?

Now there is a time and place for recommending medicine and psychiatrists. For example, if I am thinking I need to cut or something, I should consult a doctor or psychiatrist immediately.

I just don't see the use in saying "Hey psychiatrist, I think God and myself are talking to me, and I need help discerning the spirits!"

I'm not sure I'm allowed to talk about a forum situation in a thread, but I'm just saying, I want people to cease giving me medical advice unless I call for it. In future threads, I may very well say something like "Do not give me medical advice." and if people still don't listen, I will report and hope staff does something about it.

Really, you can't force people to post the way you want them to post. People take the time to reply to you giving you advice they think will be most hopeful.

Honestly, we get a lot of people in here who want help because they've already tried praying and bible verses. They're tired of the same 'cliche' Christian answers for everything. If you just want a bible verse, Google it. But don't tell people how they can or can't reply to your posts.

I really should, because I am so fed up right now. I can't post that I'm struggling without people getting mad at me that I haven't contacted my psychiatrist yet again. It's like I need him on speed-dial to please people.

I'm just wondering if people can put their personal opinions aside and give a softer tone in my own threads, though. That is all I'm asking.

By the way, I think my psychiatrist is caught up on all my problems. I think. My mom sometimes phones him and gives him a sort of brief progress report.

Can God heal? Yes. He does it all the time. But in most circumstances, our issues were given to us to make us stronger. We're all dealing with something different. His response is often "My grace is sufficient", just like He told Paul when Paul was praying to have the thorn removed from his flesh. We have no idea what that thorn was, but God felt it needed to stay in his life.

Like I said above, people already assume you've been praying and asked for prayer requests. If you're getting a lot of posts like that and it's messing you up, then maybe it's the way you're communicating the issues. This is an online forum. There's a lot of miscommunication online. I can only read what I see and relay the information as I see it from my personal experiences.

When you post in the Christian Advice Forum, you're going to get all kinds of advice....whether you want to hear it or not. It's not a "tell me what I want to hear" forum. If you want that, you'll need to find another venue for your posts.

If you want privacy, talk to people in PM. Anything you put in a forum is public and definitely not private.

It's an advice forum...that's the whole purpose of it. One question....many opinions....some you may not want to hear, but that's the nature of the beast. If you don't like people posting opinions you don't want to hear, don't ask a question in the Christian Advice Forum.

It's my opinion that you might find a few people on this site with mental problems and mental idea's or negative people. I have. If you can't accept that or it takes your peace away. You probably shouldn't come on. I know what your talking about. You actually have to be quite strong in the lord to sift through all the misinformation. Sometimes I have to take breaks away.

I think two things might be helpful to bear in mind:

1) Those of us who have any training in pastoral care, know that what we're supposed to do when someone presents with what might be symptoms of anxiety or depression or other mental health issues, is refer to a medical practitioner. Precisely because we can't give medical advice, the right thing to do is make sure they're talking to someone who can assess someone medically and give that advice.

I refer people to their doctors a lot, for this reason. Not that I want to say that's all there is to the problem, or that we can't deal with the spiritual side of things separately, but to make sure any medical bases are being covered.

2) If you want help discerning the spirits, that's a very specific sort of request, and probably not one that you're going to get great answers for in Christian Advice, which has a slightly different focus. So I'd either word your posts very carefully and specifically, making clear exactly what you're looking for, or possibly consider posting in another area of the forums (Spiritual Gifts might be a good place: Spiritual Gifts ).

I might agree with you if you cut down on the all-caps.

The all-caps are kind of disturbing me.
