I, and many others, are familiar with the WATER that came forth out of the Rock by the power of God through the rod of Moses in Exodus 17:6 and Numbers 20:8 and Numbers 20:11; but are you familiar with where it says "honey out of the rock"?
From Spurgeon's "Treasury of David" we find these words on Psalm 81:6
"And with honey out of the rock should I have satisfied thee. Luxuries as well as necessaries would be forthcoming, the very rocks of the land would yield abundant and sweet supplies; the bees would store the clefts of the rocks with luscious honey, and so turn the most sterile part of the land to good account. The Lord can do great things for an obedient people. When his people walk in the light of his countenance, and maintain unsullied holiness, the joy and consolation which he yields them are beyond conception. To them the joys of heaven have begun even upon earth. "
Just as God miraculously brought plain water out of the rock, I believe He could have miraculously brought the "delicacy" (if you will) of honey out of the rock without the natural assistance of any bees at all. That is beside the point. I like what Spurgeon said. God can and does bless us with good things when we obey and love Him. He is worthy of our love and obedience. May we love and obey Him regardless of how He chooses to respond.
