  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

hi there guys, i'm doing a peice of ethics coursework and am trying to find christians opinions of homosexuality from a modern media, i.e. the internet. i have chosen to ask on this forum as i feel it will represent a more modern and possibly accepting approach to homosexuality in society today. it would be very helpful for me if you could post your own veiws in this thread.

before posting this i read the forum rules extensivly and it clearly said that i must prohibit discussion of homosexuality to the discussion forum on ethics and morality. similarly it said i must provide evidence as to what this exactly refers to when asking a question im not sure other than perhaps to prove evidence of the graduall change in christians opinions to homosexualty in society, so here it goes as im sure your aware in the biblicle era of Liviticus 18 homosexuality is proclaimed as an "abomination" i am sure that many peoples veiws on this have changed in the centuries as homosexuality has gradually become more socially acceptable, so my question to the readers of this forum is as follows:

what is your personal opinion about the presence/ existence (both ethically and morally) of homosexuals in a modern society.

thanks in advance for letting me know as i'm sure i will find it very helpful as will my ethics class

Technically this post should be long in Christian philosophy and ethics or your poll will be wrong due to the fact many others will post who aren't chrisitian.

That being said I its wrong immorral etc... I am not going to tell a gay person that they are a bad person. We are all sinners but we all can do our best to attempt to keep away from the temptation to sin. Homosexuality is an abomination according to God's Word.

Neckarb,

You're poll question and answers are ambiguous so I picked other. Homosexual behaviour (and behaviours are always chosen) is wrong, however; having a homosexual orientation (having a particular orientation is not necessarily chosen) is not.

I voted "other".

I figure homosexuality is as immoral as heterosexuality. They just lust after their own gender instead of the opposite. When the OT was written, they didn't have very good cleanliness standards. Technically, I should have dug a hole some distance away a few minutes ago to do my business, and happy couples around the world shouldn't have sex when the woman is having her period. But that didn't happen. We can afford to do stuff, like wear polyester, eat dairy and meat from the same animal at the same time, and other things, that the Jews of the OT couldn't. It's as immoral as anything else (take that any way, actually, all ways), but Christ forgives us of our sins. And noone's oging to go the rest of thier life without sinning after accepting Christ's forgiveness.

The Christian position on homosexuality comes from the Old Testament?

The punishment for that according to Leviticus 20:13 is death..so why aren't you out there killing them? Don't have the nerve to follow one of God's laws? You seem bent on practicing that one, why not excercise the punishment for it as well? Convert them, are you kidding? Get out there and slaughter like a good God-fearing Christian.

Other: Some forms of homosexual relationships are abusive and therefore sinful. Others are not and are not sinful. Still others are positively loving and clearly a gift from God (and therefore to stand in their way would be sinful).

Same for heterosexual relationships.

True, but from a Christian perspective all homosexual sexual acts are sinful.

As are a good many other things. That's why we need Jesus. And we're not going to be perfect after accepting His forgiveness. Everyone sins.

I agree that everyone sins, its the nature of nature

However one must realise what is sinful... and TRY to avoid it.
