  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Did any of you hear about the homeless man that was beaten and urinated on by a couple of guys? He was just sleeping on the street and they came up and started. They even recorded it. I just think its sickening. And the victim says it takes place ALL the time. I can't imagine how someone can be that twisted and disgusting that they would literally kick a man when he is down.
This happened in Calgary. My hometown. I'm ashamed!

It just completely disgusted me when I heard about that! I mean what was the point? just to get a laugh? whats really horrible is that the two guys that did this are only getting 6 months in jail. Thats merely a slap on the wrist

I just feel awful for all the people living on the streets that have to deal with this sort of stuff all the time :sigh:

It's true.
I have lived in Calgary for most of my life, and the larger it grows and less friendly it gets. It is funny, when I first moved here my house was in walking distance from a farm and cows would come into my backyard. Now, only 14ish years later..and yes I still live in the same place...there are only houses and highways. It is sad. Also, homelessness is getting horrible. There are so many young families without homes; its not because they are on drugs or anything that is remotely their fault..just bad luck. And there is barely anythign to support them. Poor souls!!

nope.
and the reason that the man that was beaten was sleeping on the street
was because he didn't want to take beds in the mustard seed, etc, from
the older people. aww...
If those people were never caught I bet they wouldn't be as sorry as they said they were. They would probably show all their friends.
Arg! disgusting!
I truly hope they can find God because they must feel absolutely
horrible about themselves. Anyway, no use complaining about it. :(
Love your sister in Christ,
Taryn
