  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I am a second semester sophomore and my parents pay my tuition which means i go home for the holidays...
well anyway.. i have been her 10 days and I really just want to leave. The drama and chaos and the yelling and screaming and everything is driving me up the wall. I seriously thought about buying a flight home (as in school) early. I would rather do finals week over 4 times then endure this crap. What should I do?

any friends you can stay with while there? Even a night or two away from your family might give you (and them) some much-needed relief. It's tough to be home for the holidays... I remember my first time home for Christmas break. I was miserable and ended-up leaving early, too.

I hope it works-out. God bless.

Here's a practical suggestion. If you are majoring in either a science or some sort of liberal arts, chances are that your school offers summer research opportunities (at most schools, this program is called REU). I can't help you for the rest of Winter break. But you should try to get a paid research position under some professor at your school. That way, you'll be able to stay away from home for an entire three months, and you'll be doing useful work to advance your career. Just something to think about.

I am a bit surprised, though. Usually by sophomore year, college students have had enough time away from their parents that it's not so bad staying with them anymore. I always got along well with my parents, but by my sophomore year, I'd spent enough time away that they were even more tolerable. Actually, I just graduated from college, and I'm staying with my parents for a few months until I go to grad school. After spending years away from them, it's actually not so bad anymore!
