  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Can't comment much on Homan because he was never prosecuted and likely for good reason. I was going to say I am surprised it did not come up at his Senate confirmation hearing. Upon checking, the czar position does not require confirmation. I would love to have an honest answer to the question: Was Homan given the czar border job so that he would be able to avoid a Senate conformation hearing? I wondered too before I ever heard of his character how such a strong pair, Noem and Homan could get along so well? This might answer that question.

Wwe do know for a fact that Trump cleared the go ahead for businessmen to bribe foriegn government officials. This action by Trump sets aside laws on the books prohibiting such bribery. The law now ignored is the Foriegn Corrupt Practices Act. Trump pauses DOJ enforcement of bribery laws for US firms overseas

Whether it is just or not should not be decided by the President. The law is on the books. Though rarely used the law usually brings in about 15 million to over a hundred million a year in fines to businesses found to have bribed foreign government officials. Often this means the foreign government also pays more. The officials are OK with that though since they pocket the bribes. To me this is questionable, though Trump does have some reasoning.

There was an apparent reason, but it isn't a good one. The bribe occurred just months before Pam Bondi became AG. It has apparently been dropped now that Homan works in the White House.

Even if there was a confirmation hearing, it would have taken a whistleblower inside DOJ/FBI for the information to get out. It was a fairly recent crime at the time.

Trump likes bribes. Years ago a cable TV news show was doing a segment about foreign bribes and for some reason they needed someone who was "pro-bribe" and they found businessman Donald Trump to make the case. Ugh.
