Holy Week - coming up. What does it mean to you?

Hey UB.

I'm basically trying to find out if the Holy Week means anything more to Orthodox posters here than the basic remembrance of Christ's resurrection (like the other Easter does for everybody else).

Doesn't the other Easter mean anything to you though?

the actual days themselves? no.

Most assuredly! It is looked forward to with great anticipation as are every day in Holy Week. It is a celebration unlike any other.

That verse is talking about a non-Christian....(versus someone who has the Spirit and can receive revelation as per the rest of the passage).

Another translation is:

-"The man without the Spirit does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him, and he cannot understand them, because they are spiritually discerned".

Last church I attended did foot washing. Is there a difference within the Orthodox church in how that is perfomed? We just washed each others feet.

probably. My wife is always at me about that. That I'm willing to help others, and GIVE blessings, but not real keen on accepting it.

Is the gospel read in English at your church?

And how much of it do you understand?

Even though Orthodox services can be spiritually refreshing, I don't really get much out of them otherwise, because I hardly understand what they're saying. Nobody I know does really (...despite our fluent Greek).

I find Protestant churches do a good job on elaboration of the Gospel, whereas Orthodox churches can...well...make you feel quite great.
