  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

So, there are tons of holes in the belief of Creationism: The "turtles all the way down" problem; the anachronisms abound; the Old Testament includes two contradicting version; the list goes on ad infinitum.

But the point of the this is really Evolution. Evolution HAS NO HOLES. It leaves a few questions unanswered, sure, but the processes which it outlines and identifies mechanisms for are completely sound from the point of view of one well-versed in chemistry and biology. What I find is most, if not all of the arguments against evolution stem from misunderstanding the science.

NO! Man did NOT evolve from apes. We share a common ancestor.
NO! Lightning did not strike a rock and out pops life. That's creation. Life came from a system of organic molecules that stuck together because the environment and chemistry was right.

These things are just misconceptions of the science. Learn the science, and evolution will make sense!

Learn MORE science, then you will wake up.

I think you're both wrong. Learn the limitations of science, and you'll better understand the Creator who is not confined to natural law.

Origin subjects are all about data and conclusions. Origin subjects don't deal with science. Creationism does not argue with science but rather history in the guise of science. We are saying its not a doctor but a nurse.
If evolution had science behind it on the important conclusions then it would show it and be persuasive to all people. Instead it all relys on faith in the authority of the self proclaimed "expert".
Show us the money.
There is so much yak about evolution is true and the bible isn't true but little meat and potatoes backing evolution.
Evolution will never stop its demise till it makes its case on the merits.

Evolution is being repackaged to be more acceptable. Kinda like Intelligent Design is repackaged Creationism. (I have no dog in this fight, however. I'm jes sayin'.)

You are jumping.

1. Learn science
2. Learn more science
3. "know" the limitation of science.

You can not "learn" the third one.

Evolution will never stop its demise till it makes its case on the merits.

The ONLY people who think evolution is on a demise are those who delve completely into creationism. Everybody else sees it becoming stronger.

Denial is not just a river in Egypt...

Fauns were from Roman mythology but they identified them with Greek satyrs.

And fauns are more likely to invite you in for a cup of tea.

I have a meadow muffin for you, but its not good with tea.

Look at the avatar. Its what it looks like, not what someone says it is. Read the sig. Read the profile.

You mean a demon? You know what demons look like? If you have pictures in you bible I can assure you they are added illustrations and not in any Greek or Hebrew manuscripts we have (well maybe The Book of Kells).

There are fauns in the Narnia chronicles, cloven hooves, hairy legs and horns. Should we ban the Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe? There are satyrs in the King James Bible, Isaiah 13:21 But wild beasts of the desert shall lie there; and their houses shall be full of doleful creatures; and owls shall dwell there, and satyrs shall dance there. Perhaps we should ban people who keep quoting the AV.

But if you want to judge people on what the pictures in their avatar or signature look like, check out Exodus 22:19, Lev 8:23 and Lev 20:15&16 first. Matt 7:1 Judge not, that you be not judged. 2 For with the judgment you pronounce you will be judged, and with the measure you use it will be measured to you. Come on busterdog, we have been saved by grace, God's love has been poured into our hearts, we should be gracious in the way we treat others too.

Alrighty. I read your profile. I got to your "Occupation" line, and judged that you are at least as blasphemous as you purport the OP to be for his avatar... ;)

More liberal nonsense on the bible. Lets see, in your judgment, should Spain join the EU? If I make as much sense as you, the response would be," God forbid, you would go to h e double hockey sticks for passing "judgment.""

THe need to take down the avatar is good judgment. If you think I have passed on the guy's character or salvation, or wish that I had, again, trying re-reading until you get it.

If it were pornographic, my "judgment" would be to take it down. Would that be ungracious? Come on. What are you saying? That I have no right (or God forbids me) to post an opinion about the use of symbols on a Christian website?
