YEC says that all of creation took place in a week of 24 hour days. Now we know a week of 24 hour days did exist before Adam and Eve. The question is, what does science tell us happened 6,000 years ago. The answer is the end of the Holocene Climate Optimum. What comes up on a search has to do with "solar energy".
The Bible says: "Let there be light". But the Hebrew could mean let there be a change in the light. Which is this case is a very fine tuning to set up the right conditions for the plants and animals in the Garden of Eden. If God had not said "let there be light" there would be no Garden of Eden.
If YEC want to say that a day in Genesis is 24 hour then we have to look at that week to see if all the things in genesis chapter one happened that week. Actually they did. God fine tuned the earth to set up the conditions for what takes place in Chapter two.
Moses does tell us a day is 1,000 years. But a day could be 24 hours if you can accept that the change that took place was tiny in comparison. The YEC people will not let go of what they believe happened that week.
