Legalism has 2 faces IMHO.I disagree, God speaks whenever and to whomever He so desires. It does happen today. It happened from the beginning, in the Old Testament, in the New Testament, and today.
"God wants us to be obedient, but not legalistic". AgreedHowever, we must define what legalism is, correct? I think some of us think that simply being 'legal' is legalism already, whereas I see legalism as 1) using the law to justify and 2) following traditions and burdens that are apart or in excess to the law.
Faith -> Obedience.
Thou shalt not laugh is a new one for me.
Sound trivial to me. Forgive and you will be forgiven is much more clear.
Would anyone here want to try and make God laughThou shalt not laugh is a new one for me.
Is because I typed something in response to you that I'm guilty as charged? I presented the Scripture with an explanation that you don't like. Why don't you like it? My estimation is the shoe fits and it is most uncomfortable. If indeed you weren't pushing the law, why would you care.I'm not the one judging. Im expressing my dissaproval of your judgment of me, that's all. You say that if i concentrate on not doing evil things i am wrong, you tried to make me look like a false Christian by calling me an enemy of the cross and saying i'm cut off from Christ, and you even tried to make me look like a weak Christian also, as if you were stronger by telling me not to listen to the apostles call to abstaining from all that is evil. But i'm not wrong, the apostles teach this. I'm not the one demanding that its my way or the highway, did i ever judge you like you, frogster and nanopants did me? No. You say above in your post that im seeking bondage but you're wrong again, I was a slave to my flesh before i began to obey God, now Jesus sets me free and you want me to go back to that? No i think i should go forward and continue to resist my flesh, i should humble myself, control my tongue and seek peace, holiness and love in obedience to God.
I would. Even if God wants to mock me, I'd get a kick out of it. It would be like sitting in the audience of the best comedian in the universe and having him take pot shots at you. I'd feel special. Plus, I like seeing Him happy, even at some personal cost to me.

So show that I've misrepresented the Scripture or hush on this accusing you espcially in response to me or because of me. Saying something whether or not a post is quoted but related to a post is no different.
Now explain Gal 5:4 for us. I see a choice being required and it sure seems that you're saying it says we can have both.
Please explain how grace is a provision of the law. I simply can't find it in the law anywhere. In fact it is because of the law that we need grace to administer mercy. It is the same in civil court.
I personally care not how you think you can get the results you want. You have no business telling me or others we must serve the law per Romans 14:4.I've told you do what you want and more power to you.
If you're interested in learning and growing ask questions about what is said you don't agree with or don't understand instead of telling someone they are wrong. That is clearly the position and style of the pro law camp. Like the law they demand and refuse grace to anyone. That is clearly not the attitude of a student or even a good teacher. You're clearly asking that you be endorsed as correct. This is extremely offensive. If you were in my class I'd flunk you without hesitation on attitude alone.
I've explained to you how and why of my (or Christian) behavior and you don't like it because I don't say thou shalt not murder, etc. (follow your list of rules which doesn't matter where you say you got them).
God does speak whenever and to whomever He so desires, but the kind of direct, specific information as would've been given to Noah fall under the rubric of locutions, or some such thing IMO, and are very rare. I know people who've received such experiences and they're generally profound beyond words.
Would you kindly highlight where I said you seek enslavement in my post. From what I gather it is possible that you've merely traded one enslavement for another.I'm not the one judging. The works of the law are also works of the flesh. Its those who do works of the flesh that are sowing to the flesh and will reap corruption, you seem to have it backwards or something
If you say so. I disagree. But since you know I can't help you.I understand it.
OK what zactly am I disobedient to? Quote the verse or the law. You know very well I'm not a sabbatarian.Yes that verse you like so well says the wrath of God comes upon children of disobedience, the author is telling us to not be like them, but instead to be wise and know what the will of God is, which is not being disobedient, but instead seeking obedience by not doing those evil things the author tells us not to do. That's what i'm doing
I guess that's what i was driving at, a personal cost to ourselves and not others. We are all leaning from each other, its a good thing to laugh sometimes and be laughed at sometimes, being laughed at can teach us humility if we're willing to humble ourselves, and Jesus love can be found in being ridiculed if we choose to look at it that way. But we should serve others in love. All i'm saying is we all need to be more careful. I'm done now. I'm letting it go bro.
When I first posted on CF, I didn't realize that the really long threads were really just bouts between two or three people. So, when I first got pulled into such a bout, I was offended and very confused by what I was experiencing. Now, I have adapted to the environment enough to appreciate that this thread is a bout largely between you and two others. My question for you is: are you fully aware of what is happening, and are participating in the bout because it is as fun for you as it is for them? Just curious.
I have way to many other things to do besides being here just for fun. But why can't I have some while I'm here. Don't you ever have any fun at work? Doesn't matter whether someone is apying you or you're doing chores around the house. Never ever squirt someone with the hose on a hot day while washing the car or watering the grass.
I'm interested in how he's casting doubt. Would you please explain?
