Hobbies ~ What is yours?

Ok, I need a HOBBY! I'm 38 and work all day and come home and get on the computer most nights and that's it. I do go to the gym about three-four days a week right from work but that's not really a hobby. (That's called a chore for me.)

I am looking for ideas! What is your hobby?

I remember when my Dad was younger he was into everything! I don't think there is anything he didn't try at least once. He was a simple man who made an honest living but his passion in life was hobbies, all kinds of them and he always seemed happy.

We get so caught up in making a living and trying to better ourselves we forget about the simple things in life and having fun, at least I do. So one of my goals this year (2007) is to get a hobby or two...or three! Nothing real expensive mind you.

Yes, I would agree...reading is your hobby. I don't see how in the world you find the time for that!

I enjoy mountain biking, camping & hiking. I love the outdoors to be with nature is so relaxing and refreshing.

I love to knit! It's easy to learn and very relaxing. And there is nothing wrong with men knitting.
My husband bowls. Oh I also am addicted to Sudoku puzzles.

My hobbies are cuddling with my husband, playing with my cats, cooking, wine tasting (and reading about wine), reading (mostly literary fiction, also theology, and cookbooks), walking, going to the opera, and listening to (mostly classical) music.

Reading, scuba diving, playing on the computer (obviously)... I want to start an herb garden, but my wife wants me to wait until I'm an old man to do that (haha). I'm still considering it, though.

My wife would tell you that my laptop is my hobby because I sit at the kitchen table every single night in front of it. BUT, I am doing constructive things on it which she probably does not always believe. So I could say one of my true passions is the computer and Internet. This is where I spend most of my time at night after work, sometimes too much time! HAHA

I love dry red too. My favourite red wines at the moment are French (especially from the bordeaux region - st emilion, pauillac, st estephe - but they are pricey), Italian (chianti, sagrantino di montefalco, and the dark spicy wines from Puglia: primitivo di manduria), and Australian (mostly shiraz). I'm learning to love whites too, and I'm particularly fond of Alsace whites, such as pinot blanc and gewurztraminer.

Yep, I like those Aussie Shiraz reds too! I am cheap though so I usually won't spend more than 5-6 dollars for a bottle. I have had more expensive wines and DO notice the difference but I can't afford to buy those right now.

We have a local place called "Jungle Jims" here in Cincinnati. This is where I get my wine and steaks!! Awesome stuff. Buying steak at your local grocery store is no comparison. I will never buy meat again from the local grocery. For one, it's way over-priced and second, it's not as fresh as your specialty places like the one I mentioned. Sorry, got off on a steak theme.

Anyway, I love to sip a really good wine on a summer night while grilling out on the deck. WOW, life doesn't get much better at those times for me. I am a simple man who loves to stay at home and enjoy those pleasures.
