Hi everyone! My name is Allison and I'm 22 and married to the love of my life, Timothy. I have been struggling for a while to find a Christian message board where I can have deep, theological discussions and also share in the laughter, joys, and silliness of everyday existance. I truly hope this is the place for me. I desperately need Christian companionship, as my husbnd and I recently moved to a new region of the country and we have had difficulty finding Christian companionship (in spite of our church membership!). We moved 1500 miles away from everything we knew and everyone we love, so we are very much in need of friends and encouragement at the moment.
I am a former Medieval History graduate student and dh is a grad student in Polymer Science (right now he is making a high-performance coating for NASA space craft!). If anyone here has undergone graduate education, please tell me there is a light at the end of the tunnel and how to make it another 4.5 years--sometimes life seems so bleak. I am currently on a leave of absence from my grad education--after much prayer and thought it no longer seemed the place God wanted me to be. I'm currently a stay-at-home wife, but desperately for a job opportunity to make ends meet once our savings runs out. These are difficult times.
Timothy and I are very devout Christians. We are on our third denomination since we have yet to find a church that feels right to us. We believe that all who have faith in Jesus as our savior and accept Him as lord of their lives will be saved; thus, we tend to emphasize the spirit over the letter of the law, and this does not go over well in some Christian communities. I hope that here on this message board I can find a safe haven to grow in Christ and at the same time uplift others' spirits.
I look forward to meeting everyone, and I hope that I will be a positive addition to this community.
Take care,
Allison
