  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I was just wondering if there were any History majors out there and what their foucus is. (Europe, 1800-1900, Asia, etc. etc.) And how you like it? And what do you plan on doing with it?

And if you have another major? Much of what you learn for the History major seems that you have to learn anyway so it would be easy to double major I've been told. I'm thinking of double majoring in Theology too. I'm not quite sure yet though...

Thanks,
Kemper

 Here Here for History!!! I don't really need a focus for my degree (specialist...i.e. 10/20 courses be history)...This year I find I really like North American History...i.e. Canadian and American History...its GREAT stuff
What does one do with History (BESIDES teaching)? Cause I don't want to teach so....
Although finding Noah's Ark has some appeal...

My degree is Social Studies, Secondary teacher. But I am going to minor in history. There is no real concentration in the minor, because you have to have a well rounded history. I prefer American and World Civ though.

"Social Studies"? To which college did you go?

I'm a History Major and am entering Grad School. I do not know what I'll concentrate in, but I find European, Middle Eastern, and American histories more fascination than others, but not by much; the whole subject I find invigorating to learn of.

Still going rather. Just look at my sig/avatar! ;) Anyways, my degree name is confusing, but I will be able to teach any social studies class from 7-12 grades. With a minor in History (and in Poly Sci) I will probably teach those two.
