Come a little closer, now
Sit and listen more
About a lowly carpenter
And the crown of thorns He wore
Born unto a virgin
By the hand of mighty God
He grew up within much poverty
On rocky ground he trod
When He was only 12 years old
A child in many eyes
He was about His father's business
So wonderful and wise
He reached the age of 33
The power began to unfold
He healed the sick and raised the dead
Pure miracles to behold
He taught of compassion and mercy
He expressed true love and grace
He walked upon the water
No fear upon His face
Then a friend betrayed Him
To men so full of scorn
They tortured and abused Him
Til His flesh was bloody and torn
A crown of thorns they fashioned
To place upon His head
He walked the Via Dolorosa
And took our place instead
They nailed Him to his heavy cross
And waited for Him to die
Casting lots for His belongings
'Til thunder shook the sky
He cried out to His Father
"They know not what they do"
When His final breath had passed
His love stayed strong and true
They wrapped His body in linen
And placed Him in a tomb
Sealed it with a boulder
Sentencing Him to doom
Three days and nights did come to pass
The boulder was moved away
Jesus had arisen
To have His final say
It's all about our Saviour
Praise His name with glory
Tell your friends about Him
Take time to read His story
It's found within the pages
Of a book found anywhere
It's called the Holy Bible
Pick one up and share!
