  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

In 1 Kings 9 v 12 we read that King Haram was given some towns by Soloumn which he was note pleased with?

In 2 Chronicles 8:1 -2 Solomon rebuilt the villages that Hiram had given him.

What were these towns, and are they the same?

I looked this up in the Archeology Study Bible notes and this is all it says:

9:10–14 It appears that Solomon gave Hiram the 20 towns in the Phoenician- Galilee border area as a surety for repayment of gold (v. 14).

Not much, I know. Hopefully someone has a bit more.

Solomon made a trade agreement with Hiram for supplies to build the Temple (2 Chronicles 2), and in exchange for the supplies, Hiram wanted towns. See Tyre is a port city, and was disconnected from the Mainland, so what they needed was agriculture. They had tons of supplies coming in from sea-trade, but not enough place to grow grain which is what Hiram was looking for form Solomon. However, Solomon gave him 20 poor towns from the Galilee area, which is why in 1 Kings 9 Hiram calls them Cabul (Good for nothing).

I don't know if Hiram gave these towns back or not, but it wouldn't be impossible.
