Him

[Why?]

They gave life to him.
They nurtured him.
They said they loved him.
They said he couldn't love him.
They condemned him.
Death was better, they told him.

They hurt him.
They turned their backs on him.
They said they never wanted to see him.
They shunned him.
They never missed him.
Death was better, they convinced him.

No response? It doesn't even look like anyone's read this... *shrugs* I wish they would. I wrote it so people would learn.

What did you want people to learn?

I like it, it was okay, but lacking something . . . not sure what. It seemed more like a paragraph than a poem.
I think maybe, for me anyway, it was lacking closure. It seems like it ends where it should be beginning. What happened? Why did they shun him? Who is it that you're talking about? Maybe I'm just missing the point. . .

The last line: "Death was better, they convinced him." Literally means he committed suicide.

Basically the poem is this: They told him death was better, then they turned their backs on him and he killed himself.
