  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Hillary Clinton wants to deprogram MAGA?

Tell you what....if she drafts a law requiring this, I'll join you in objecting to it.

Until then, this seems just a tongue in cheek comment, nothing more. She's entitled to her opinion, just like everyone else...why make more of it than that?

-- A2SG, believe me, I've heard MAGA people say worse things about her and democrats in general.....

Hearing stuff like this from her over the years makes me very grateful Hillary was not elected POTUS.

Yeah, instead we got a very calm, rational, soft spoken POTUS instead.

Oh, wait....

Hearing stuff like this from her over , but something needs to happen"the years makes me very grateful Hillary was not elected POTUS.
She is so much worse than a politician who is calling for putting political 'enemies' in prison if that person wins....deprogramming bad, prison good.

By the way, Clinton never said she wants to deprogram MAGA, she said "at some point, you know maybe there needs to be a formal deprogramming of the cult members. But something needs to happen.",

No, she's just out and about speaking for the Democratic Party calling for 70 million plus people to be "deprogrammed" for supporting the "wrong" policies.

That's a LOT worse than calling for an admitted criminal to be tried for her crimes...

Yet "we" are the danger to democracy. If your looking at the communist state they believe they live in, then yes we are a danger, because over here we live in a republic.

But it's impossible to get me to declare the freedom God gave me to be evil, so I guess they'll just have to kill me... "Deprogramming" just won't take.

We don’t have to imagine it. He spent his entire presidency demonizing democrats and their voters.

Just look at some of the paranoid delusions displayed in this thread. Some people think Hillary Clinton is coming for them to lock them away and “deprogram” them out of maga. Meanwhile right actually elected their boogeyman to the presidency and he’s the clear front runner for the nomination next year.

Not every Trump supporter is a cultist (although they have seriously poor judgment) but a small number are.

The cultists are the ones who listen to his irresponsible demagoguery (about shooting shoplifters, for example) and try to act on it.

When a multiply-indicted white collar criminal tells you to shoot shoplifters, don't listen.

This is precisely the reaction Fox is going for with its spin. Hilary specifically states MAGA cult not Trump supporters or Trump voters as a whole. Fox, however, did broaden her statement to all Trump supporters. Many other conservative media outlets are doing the same. Intentional dishonesty to provoke an angry reaction from viewers/readers.

Ultimately, this is her opinion. She does not speak for the Democratic Party. She does not hold office. Feel free to ignore her.

Yes, yes she is speaking for the Democratic Party.

If the party didn't support this stuff, they wouldn't be putting her on the circuit this election season.

1. MAGA cultists, who are the group she's referring to, don't number 70 million. They represent, at most 20% of Donald's voters.
2. It's not about the "wrong policies". It's about living in an alternative reality where Donald is 6'3' 215 lbs, where everyone except him is corrupt and where every Democrat is a communist pedophile.
That's a LOT worse than calling for an admitted criminal to be tried for her crimes...
To whom are you referring? It can't be Sec. Clinton as she isn't an "admitted criminal".

Meanwhile...
Yet "we" are the danger to democracy. If your looking at the communist state they believe they live in, then yes we are a danger, because over here we live in a republic.
What in the world are you talking about? What "communists state"?

Histrionic nonsense that just proves my earlier observation.
This sort of mentality reminds me of @iluvatar5150 s thread where it seems that quite a few on the right have so immersed themselves in right wing rhetoric that liberals or anyone who even holds a left of center position or two, is not merely a political opponent, but fundamentally evil, actively trying to destroy America and possibly literally demonic. The Left cannot be compromised with because they are so fundamentally evil and they must be exiled or destroyed.

I must have missed the vote where we all got to decide who’d be speaking for every Democrat in the country. When was it?

“Prolonged exposure to Trump is injurious to intelligence and fatal to principles ... It is like a disease. You are exposed to it, become infected and succumb to it. The people I know who I once thought well of who have now lost their minds are legion. It’s depressing.” --Mac Stipanovich, a longtime Republican consultant in Florida

Dustin Thompson, 38, a college-educated Ohio resident, told jurors this week that he was hoping to gain the "respect" and "approval" of Trump when he stormed the Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021. Thompson said he got sucked into conspiracy theories after he lost his job at the beginning of the Covid pandemic and believed Trump's baseless claims about a stolen 2020 election.

Attorneys for Cesar Sayoc, the 57-year-old man who pleaded guilty to sending improvised explosive devices to several high-profile Democrats and a cable news station, argued in a sentencing memo that their client watched Fox News "religiously" prior to his acts and was influenced by the "provocative language" advanced by some of its commentators, including Fox News host Sean Hannity. He was not discerning of the pro-Trump information he received, and by the time of his arrest, he was 'connected' to hundreds of right-wing Facebook groups." "Many of these groups promoted various conspiracy theories and, more generally, the idea that Trump's critics were dangerous, unpatriotic, and evil," the attorneys added. "They deployed provocative language to depict Democrats as murderous, terroristic, and violent."

Man who shot and killed mob boss Francesco 'Franky Boy' Cali believed in █████, thought he had Trump's 'full support': Court docs

Comello's family "began to notice changes in his personality" following the presidential election in 2016 ... Mr. Comello became certain that he was enjoying the protection of President Trump himself, and that he had the president's full support," the court document states.

His attorney's document notes how Comello tried to make citizen's arrests of three prominent politicians, all of whom are Democrats and vocal critics of Trump -- New York City mayor Bill de Blasio, and Representatives Maxine Waters and Adam Schiff. All three of those citizen's arrests, in February 2019 or shortly after, were unsuccessful.

In the de Blasio case, the mayor's security detail thwarted him and in the case with the members of Congress, U.S. Marshals did not help him, which Comello allegedly believed they would.

Rhode Island man charged after allegedly threatening to ‘kill every Democrat,' eat pro-abortion professor

Matthew Haviland, 30, of North Kingstown was charged Wednesday after sending approximately 28 threatening emails on March 10 to a college professor, whose name and affiliation was withheld by federal officials.

“You are Evil. Pure evil — all Democrats must be eradicated"

In an affidavit, FBI task force officer Richard Laft, Jr. wrote that the professor told authorities Haviland’s “views regarding abortion and politics have become more extreme” within the last year. The professor, who had been friends with Haviland for about 11 years, believed Haviland’s views changed because “of the way the news media portrays” President Donald Trump, Laft wrote.

Extreme examples, possibly, but maybe there needs to be some careful effort put in by their friends and loved ones to pull them (and people like them) out of the rabbit hole of Trump's cult of personality. To help them become more discerning -- to turn them away from alternate facts and towards facts.

--

And maybe someone should take Trump and his surrogates to task for their dehumanizing rhetoric.

[Trump Jr.] claimed, “[Hillary] doesn’t understand people, she doesn’t have any feelings. She’s like a reptile.”
