High School Dances

What are your feellings about them?

I personally think that christians should stay away from them.. because they have no value for a christian. All the sensual types of dancing and just the general atmosphere doesn't seem right to me.

I'm partly asking this because a girl from my church wants me to go to a dance with her, but i'm thinking that I won't go because of what I said above.

the last dance i went to i just meandered around with a bunch of friends, good time, we all got around in a circle and belted out the lyrics to "dont stop beleivin'" at the top of our lungs; great fun. but if youre going with a date...i only know about going with friends, sorry.

yeah. the part about going with a date is the thing that's bothering me mostly

cause she likes me, but I don't like her..
she has already asked me out before and I said no, so..

For me, I don't see anything wrong with it, mainly because I can't dance, so I don't do much more than just slow dance with my date, of course, I don't think they're super exciting, but I'll go if my girlfriend wants me too.

It is what you make of it really.

Sure, some questionable activities can take place at a dance, but as long as you know that you're going there to have good, clean fun and nothing more, then there isn't a problem.

I guess the only reason I have a problem with this dance I was asked to is the fact that the girl who asked me likes me.. but i dont like her back

If it was just a good female friend of mine, i wouldn't really care.. or if i was to go with some of my guy friends.. but since this girl likes me, it seems to weird to go with her.

I never had a problem with school dances, I only had a problem with.. certain songs they played at school dances. I didn't start to especially enjoy dances until after I graduated though ! I went to a school dances with my friends who are in grade 12, and it was really fun ^-^

Well, if you don't like her back, then my advice would be just to politely decline. Unless your friends are going and you want to hang out with them then I really don't see any other reason to go. However, dancing and "naughty" music isn't gonna lead to satanism or anything like that so I wouldn't worry about it that much. If anything, you should worry about your school over pricing stuff like entry and food.
