I am considering trying to write a book. I have never really written anything other than letters, etc. But, I am told that I am a good storyteller. The book would be southern in character as I grew-up in the backwoods of south Georgia and north Florida. My idea is to fictionalize my own life story. My Father was a horribly abused child and became an abuser himself. I am the oldest of six children ( age 56). All of my sibilings have had lots of problems in life as a result of our childhood. I myself became an alcoholic.(sober 21 years in A.A.). I have seen a lot of books about child abuse but I would like to illustrate it from within the family. The abuse, the kinds of problems steming from it, and the ways people deal with their past. By the way, my Father is dying with cancer and will be gone soon. My Mother died in Jan. this year. I would really like to hear your comment's. I will post a foreword to the book as soon as I do a little clean-up on it. Thanks.

CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Still Wondering...
Who would be the target audience? Would it be a children's book? Would this be more for self help or more an overcoming type story for general sakes at the book stores? Would it be something more for schools/rehabs/recovery centers to use? Have you talked with a publisher yet?

Writing a book about your life would be a wonderful idea.
The first book I had published was titled "The Abuser's Daugther." It sold well. This book has helped more people than I could have imagined.
I agree with the post before mine. These are important questions that should be answered.
But again, write, write, write!
There are people that YOU are meant to touch that no one else can.
