Welcome. God is perfect, so sinful humans cannot have perfect fellowship with Him. God gave Moses the Law, but that only proved that even with the Law in front of us we cannot behave correctly, because sin is rooted too deeply within us. Jesus, the perfect man, came and gave His life as a sacrifice to pay for man's sin. He was resurrected from the grave on the third day, proving God accepted His sacrifice on our behalf. Through Him we can be forgiven, and then the Holy Spirit comes and dwells in us and begins the work of transforming us into the likeness of Christ. So we love Jesus because He gave everything for us. He didn't have to, it was His love that drove Him to the Cross, "for the joy set before Him" - that is, knowing it would reconcile us back to God for eternity. The best thing to do is to get to know who Jesus was. There are plenty of Bible sites online where you can read His story (biblegateway.com; blueletterbible.com; etc). There are four Gospel accounts of His life in the Bible. They are all good, but often the book of John is suggested as a starting point, but the book of Mark is a quick read and packs a lot of information. If you want to know the truth about Jesus, approach Him with an open mind, and pray to God that He would reveal the truth. Jesus promises in the book of Matthew, chapter 7, that all who seek will find. And Jeremiah 29 says we will find God when we look for Him with all our heart.
