• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

I need to quit smoking too... overall, help is going to have to come from the strength and healing from the Lord. This is how I quit the first time (for 15 years). I am going to start my journey of quitting again tomorrow and hope to write a daily log of how things are going. It is in our weakness that the Lord is strongest.

i smoked for 20+ yrs,and quit COLD TURKEY, i made up my mind that enough was enough it's time(i use to get out of breath just going up the stairs) the most important part is ,you have to TRULY from the inner most part of your soul WANT TO QUIT or else it's just a waste of time .you can't quit just because someone suggests it ,it won't work.
the day i quit i had a cold and terrible sore throat and everytime i took a drag it raunched out my throat ,so i think that having a sore throat was an asset in helping me quit.so maybe wait until you've got a cold or a scratchy throat ?...hope i've helped...good luck Rose
