  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I am the author of the Scholars Corner, and I was hoping to do some deep research on the original language texts of the bible, but not sure this is the right forum. Anyway, I'm a "retired" pastor if there is such a thing. I preach at our home church as needed. I am the author of Pardoned or Paroled? and an artist as well as a tent-maker.

What drew me here was I was curious about the different texts used for Philippians 4:13. Most ancient texts use "i can do all things through HIM who strengthens me" but the KJV and the Eastern Orthodox use "through Christ." The meaning is the same, just a difference of a possible addition to clarify the meaning of Him.... I was also wondering if Paul uses Christ to mean "the anointing with strengthens me" which is the meaning of the word Christ. And if he uses Jesus Christ (Jesus Messiah/the anointed One) when referring to Jesus while using Christ to signify the anointing of Jesus that rests upon all believers.
