  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Hi to all,
I've been born again for 32 years. Prior to that I was raised Lutheran (LCMS). Went rouge. Got saved. Been in several name brand churches. Wandered a bit. Favor small Bible Churches. Currently in an IFCA church about 30 miles from home. Pass by a lot of "churches" to be there.
Love the Bible! Big on daily Bible reading, fellowship, breaking of bread, and prayer. Trying to keep faith and life simple. Love to teach the Bible.
My wife is ex-RC. I am ex-LCMS. I am free grace all the way. Seen way too much legalism, lordship salvationism, & other isms & schisms over 32 years. Hate to see competition in the church. Like the concept of "house church" but have yet to see one succeed. My main question to all who trumpet their brand is; "Where is the love?"
Looking for good conversation, mutual edification, and Bible discussion beyond the 1" layer found in most "Bible studies". Weary of praise bands and laser light shows. Disgusted with book clubs disguised as "Bible Studies". Detest topical sermons. Love expository preaching.
That's about it. Thanks to any who extend the cyberhand of fellowship.

Welcome to the forum. Thanks for the into, it's helpful. You'll find many different types of Christian here. I am similarly inclined to you. We have a home-based fellowship. It's as small as it can be, but I'd rather that than any mega church I've been to or seen on TV.

Two things I believe are lacking in most of what calls itself Christian. The first is the knowledge of Jesus as the Life of the believer. The second is ignorance regarding the real meaning of salvation - the first and second.

We base our ministry on Luke 4:18 and we seek unity as expressed in Psalm 133.

I would totally concur that smaller fellowships and home-based fellowships are preferable. A church that I admire to a certain extent vets everyone who goes into a Bible Study/Life group. I think this is wise and shows accountability. I am not offended if someone from a small group wants to know all about me. Big churches often have little accountability and end up with scandals or uncontrolled behaviours happening in the church.
