Hello everyone. I'm a 18 year old college student and I've been catholic all my life. When I was 12 my parents got a divorce and we stopped going to church. My friend invited me to go to her church and for the past 4 months I've been attending a baptist church with her. She just got home from a missions trip in south africa. I was so inspired, I want to go on a trip too. Problem is, most organizations require you to have had a relationship with god for at least the last 6 months. I truly believe I'm ready to go on a missions trip. Does anyone recommend a country for a first time missionary to go to? I was thinking south america but then last night I had a dream I was in Ireland doing work. I don't want to stay in the U. S. I feel like god has planned something bigger than that. i dont get that, you say that you've been a catholic all your life but cant go cuz you have to have a relationship with god for 6 months. aint 18 years longer then 6 months?
i dont know much about catholics. do they not have a relationship with god and become a baptist not yet six months ago? im not getting all that...

anyway, theres ppl all around you who need help. ppl concentrate about ppl in afirca, arent ppl the the us in just as much need? speak to ppl there for six months. then move on. mabey you arent ready?

what I was trying to say was the organization I want to go on a trip with wants someone who's had a relationship with god for the past 6 months and I've only had a relationship with god for the past four months. I had a relationship with god from the time I was baptized until 7th grade then when my parents got divorced I turned away from god but recently I've renewed my relationship with him. So I do get what you're saying about me having a relationship with him for 12 years prior to now. thanks for your help.

You can start out small. Try to get involved with an inner city missions work group to start...man, there is some poverty there that needs help, right in our own country. Mexico is also a great place. Try Adventures.org or search for another mission org. to try out.
