  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Hi everyone,
Obviously I'm new here. I've just recently started going to my local church again. I'm still not sure why, but I felt like I really needed to go to church and find out more about God after a long time of insisting I was atheist .. I don't know. I'm still working it all out. I'm 22 years old and I'm a student, I'm returning to university in October after a year out as I have a little boy. He's 10 months old now. That's the boring stuff out of the way!
Glad to be here :)

For Most Important Life Questions
CHRIST IS THE ANSWER
Thoughts By Robert DeWitt, 6/10

A sign was seen at a church meeting place stating: Christ Is The Answer. The thought, I am sure, is not intended that He is the answer to all material matters, but what concerns life questions. It seems an appropriate statement, since I cannot think of issues of life, hope, direction, and troubles where it is not true. What do you think?

The question might be raised: How is Christ the answer? Well, is one hurting or is one afraid? Does one need comfort or direction? Does one need assurance and hope for life, peace, and for eternity? A personal relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ is reportedly the answer, and some of us have found it is true. It is not only a redemption hope of salvation for everyone who will receive it ---though it is truly that, but is the source of blessing to every true believer in Christ. I believe the basic issue here is "a personal relationship", for just testing or challenging the Lord to prove Himself is not faith. He seldom responds to that. One first needs to know Him and His love for us.

One cannot understand this or appreciate it without Christ, so again: Christ is the answer! God says: "How long halt ye between two opinions? If the Lord be God, follow Him: but if Baal (the Devil) then follow him" (1 Kings 18:21). What is one following? It might be said that one is following himself and none other, but God tells us that since we are born in sin we do follow Satan by nature and do his will, though one surely may not know it ---until some foul deed is done in the flesh. We need a new nature, which is by being "born again" (see John 3).

Dear professing Christian, to be brief here let me urge you to be sure, and do a careful reading of the gospel by John and the epistle of Romans in the Bible, then call upon God earnestly and reverently, and receive His beloved Son into your heart for the truth of eternal life, blessings, and care.

Welcome to CF! I too was once an atheist. It's very common once a person has a child and the reality of what a miracle life is coupled with knowing that child will grow up with many struggles in this life we like to point them in the right direction.
