Hey! I’m Asher, known online as MoonwickBlessings.

I'm from 21 years old, from NY.

I identify as a non-denominational associate Christian. Some may be wondering what I mean by "associate"? This means that while I deeply connect with the principles of Christianity, I haven’t yet been baptized, so I’m not formally a member of the Body of Christ. I was christened as a child in a Pentecostal church, but since I didn’t truly understand what it meant to dedicate my life to Christ at that time, I feel like it doesn’t quite count. However, I’m planning to get baptized by March 2025!

I’m excited to connect with anyone who happens to come across this post or decides to drop a comment. I typically find myself looking for ways to fill my time when I’m not busy with classes or work, so I enjoy reading what others share, exchanging ideas, and offering whatever wisdom I can when it feels right. Nothing too fancy; just genuine conversations...I guess. :sunglasses:

Welcome to the forum @MoonwickBlessings . Glad you are a believer. Baptism is a sign of the obedience of cleansing your soul of sin. Just a public statement.

In the case of the thief on the cross (Luke 23:39-43), he was not able to be baptized, yet Jesus assured him that he would be with Him in paradise. Jesus' words, "Truly I tell you, today you will be with me in paradise," demonstrate that baptism is not a requirement for salvation. The thief's faith in Jesus and his acknowledgment of Jesus' divinity were what saved him, not any works or religious rites.

This example shows that while baptism is an important step in the life of a believer (as a public declaration of faith), it is not what saves a person. Salvation comes through faith in Jesus Christ, as emphasized in passages like Ephesians 2:8-9. Baptism is an act of obedience and an outward symbol, but it does not determine salvation.

If you're able to get baptized do it as it's an act of obedience but there are many people who are in positions whether it be health reasons, disabilities, prison etc. who are not able to get baptized and the LORD understands of course.
