  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

hey... were moving soon and i dont know if we can take our two cats. Im just wondering if anyone had any good ideas on how to get them to good homes. The one is kind of an old mother, and shes sort of missing part of her one ear... so she just needs a nice quiet home...

The other is one of the first cats, kittens. And shes very very... timid. So she needs a quiet QUieT home...

I dont want to bring them to the shelter because shelters are always extremely full... and everyone i know has so many pets already... hmmm any ideas?

So sorry you may have to leave your kitties behind. Do you have a feline rescue that your family would be willing to drive to? (Often rescue personnel will even drive to meet you half way if the only rescue is quite a distance from your home.) A reputable rescue will often place your cats in good foster homes where they live regular lives with families until the perfect forever family is located. They will rehabilitate cats with expert care, as well, which is great for timid cats.

I'll be praying that you find the perfect solution, this time can't be easy.

I had to give away my cat when my parents moved too. I don't know why they didn't keep looking at rental places, but whatever. The place they found allowed our Great Dane, but our spayed completely declawed cat (hey, my mother made us and I was too young to complain) was not. Fortunately for me and Holli I had a wonderful cat loving friend to give her too. I still get to see her and she's doing great. I know how it feels to give an animal up.

You could try placing an add in a paper. Then you can screen potential owners and try to make sure that if for whatever reason they can't take care of the cats that they call you. If you must send them to a shelter, then definitely check them out first. They are not all alike.

Giving cats to someone who can't afford them = bad idea. If they can't afford a cat, how are they going to afford vet care when needed?

Giving them to someone you know is usually a good idea as you can keep in touch. If not, check around for local rescues. It's just over kitten season, so many may be full still, but it's worth a shot. You can check www.petfinders.org and click on "rescues" at the top and it will give you a listing of rescues in your state. Just start calling one by one until you find one you like.

I'm sorry you're having to give your kitties away. Is there any way that you can try to keep them? Why wouldn't you be able to keep them, if you don't mind me asking?
