  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Welcome to CF! I pray you will be blessed as we are blessed that you are here. I am not quite sure what "still coming to grasp with the whole Christianity thing" actually means. I hope it means that you have accepted Jesus as your personal Saviour and are a new Christian still growing in Him. If not let me know. It is important that you have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.

But either way you are very welcome here!

Hey Gerry, yes i've accepted Jesus into my life, it only happened a week or so ago, which is what i meant by "new to the Christianity thing". It wasn't a nice way to phrase it. what i meant is that i'm still a little confused about alot of things atm which i figure is fairly normal. hence me joining the board and getting to know other Christians. (not brave enough to try and attempt to go to Church by myself yet!! ) :)

Well, that is indeed great news. WOW! Only a week or so old, eh? My! I am 31 years old in Jesus, and He gets Sweeter to me each day. You must tell us all about it sometime. In the meantime, hang out in the fellowship and Devotionals and Prayer Forums for fun and growth. You will also like the recreation room too I hope. But, please, as a new Christian, stay away from apologetics. That could only be confusing to a new Christian. And remember to read your Bible and pray each day, OK? Remember read, I John, a very short book about love, and then St. John, where you learn about Who Jesus is and what your relationship to Him is and to other Christians, and also what Christ expects of all of us.

If you have questions or need help PM me and if I can't help you I will refer you to someone who can.

Thanks for that!! I'm used to having discussions with people about religion and faith etc, In 2001 i started at a Seventh Day Adventist College studying primary teaching, i had no prior contact with Christianity (except Sunday School when i was young) so i had no idea about what everyone believed, it was quite confusing. I was always the one in class questioning everything the other people said so i could understand what was going on (the teacher ended up loving me coz i was the one playing the devils advocate and making everyone think seriously about what they believed and about their faith). I have had quite a few discussions about what people believe and why. But that was a factor in me wanting to become a Christian, but i didn't do anything about it.

A couple of months ago i started to think about it seriously, and then since then i have been talking to my sister (who is a newish Christian) about it and she lent me some of her books on it and i decided it looked pretty great. I was actually in the shower when i realised that i wanted to get to know Jesus and have him in my life. I have started praying, but i am unsure about what exactly i'm meant to do, i haven't really spoken to anyone about all of this so actually writing this down has really helped. I'm still pretty unsure about what is actually expected of me, but i feel i'm learning bit by bit :D

Amen lil_angel, and that is exactly the way it should be done. A little at a time. As you say bit by bit. Or as God said it:

Isaiah 28:10: "For precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little"

Overthe last several week I have posted tons on prayer and more to come. regretably most of it is buried now 2 or 3 pages and more. But if you take the time to go to the Prayer Forum and start looking back, you may find some things about prayer that are very helpful to you.

I think you will find the 15th chapter of St. John of great interest. Because in there you will see what Jesus expects of us, insofar as our relationship with Him is concerned and what our relationsahip to each other is concerned, and WHY He saved us and WHAT He wants us to do and why!

Hey lil_angel.  Heed Gerry's warning about staying away from the apologetics.  As a new Christian that area will only confuse you and you could see some very un-christian like views in that particular area.  I'm glad to hear that you are a new Christian.  And as Gerry said it is so important to spend time reading the word and praying.  Welcome to the family of God.
