  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Apparently me, and all other hetrosexual must a terrible danger to all of humanity!

Just look! I have a news report of irresponsible actions of a hetrosexual man putting others lives at risk of exposure to HIV! That’s how it works doesn’t it?

;) In all seriousness people of all sexualities who behave this selfishly need to be locked up for the protection of the rest of us.

Well that depends. It would be necessary for the public to perceive HIV as a threat. That's something that unfortunately is not as prevalent as it once was.

When I was a lad the sex education training we received absolutely drilled into our heads the dangers of HIV. At that time (I'm almost embarassed to admit) it was the mid to late 1980's. Our school arranged an assembly in which a gay man who had AIDS came to talk to us about how he was dying from the disease. Of course the parents threw an absolute conniption but eventually the assembly went forward.

We were of course terrified that he would drop dead right in front of us. But, those were the times. When I was in my late teens we still received many warnings about STDs but by then HIV/AIDS was kind of a back-burner issue.

The problem today is that people have become complacent. This is because we are no longer treated to scenes of AIDS patients wasting away in their 20's and 30's.

I agree... I remember being a child in the 80's and the massive push for us to be aware.

However I'd think AIDS should still be terrifying. Even if you are selfish enough to not care about becoming a vector of death to everyone you get close to, in a world where we can be vigerous and healthy well into our 60s or 70s... dying a horrible undignified death in our 40s or 50s sounds like a very bad thing.

True, but in a culture that glorifies youth and beauty most people aren't thinking about the long-term anyway.
